Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

its like girls bringing a fat mate with them to a nightclub. With their heroin and obesity problems and their decrepid architecture they make us look good. But also share a hatrid of the english.

We like the Welsh too (if you want to generalise 'we'). We basically like anyone else who doesn't like the english.

Because when we showed them uillean pipes and they asked how to play them we said "you just blow like hell in there" and they believed us ;)

    1) Why? Unless youre scottish
    2) Who really gives a rats ass about their independence?
    3) Speak for yourself

We've more genes in common with them, or so it's generally believed, so many feel a greater sense of kinship.

Also, Scotland's lovely and I happen to have liked every Scottish person I've known.

The 'Scots' are originally from Ireland, the Dal Riadans went from over from the north of Ireland and displaced the Picts from the western part of modern Scotland.

The trouble with Scotland is that there's too many scots!

We think that we share with the Scots a common Celtic ancestry; We also claim Spanish thanks to the Armada, obviously; Anglo-Norman; Cambra-Norman; Viking.

In truth your average Paddy is a mix of all these.

The galling thing is that some people pander relentlessly to which every one takes their fancy today, then changes next week when, (enter country here) reaches a further stage of (enter current sports championships here) than Ireland does.

I do not know that many Scottish people but the ones I have met have a dark sense of humour which we also seem to have. That shared sense of humour is probably why. I am just guessing though.

Taking a wild guess that this is a match inspired thread;)

Well, I like some Scot's........'cos I am one, of Irish parentage and, at this stage I have spent most of my life in Ireland! Don't like burgher's (Edinburgh) they are Ok on face value but very clannish imho, parden the pun.

Personally I feel sorry for my brother, he's married to a French girl!!

    Would agree with this ^^^.

Used to live in Scotland. The only thing I really preferred about Scotland to Ireland is that they are excellent queuers.

They don't say "next please", meaning whoever thinks they should be served next to come up. They say "first please", meaning whoever was here first come up to get served. Being in a queue in Ireland is soul destroying.

Either "did ye get" misspelt or "did yeti get" misspelt. I'd bet on the former.

Some people hate the English, I don't. They're just ****.
We, on the other hand, are colonized by ****. We can't even find a decent culture to be colonized by. We are ruled by effete arseholes.
It's a shite state of affairs to be in, Tommy! And all the fresh air in the world won't make any fuckin' difference!

An Afternoon in Fife by Tesco Massacre

'This Irn Bru tastes like pish. I did nae order a can o' pish. I'm goin home to wee Maggie and the bairn tae watch Braveheart.'

    Fin.

Powerful stuff, I'm sure you'll agree.
