+1 on the double dip case. I use it for my M8. It's the one case that actually looks good on the phone. Argos had them on offer a while back but I got mine on Amazon with some other stuff which meant no delivery charge.

Another +1 for the double dip case, I did find however that the M8 version didnt have the same fit a the M7 version. I bought the Otterbox Symmetry case for my M8 and its an excellent fit (not too bulky either), and it fits over the tempered glass screen protector.

Reverted back to stock using the link to XDA someone posted earlier in the thread. Still nothing and "System Update" option didn't come back. Currently running 6.09.401.12. Going to try some other 401 RUUs this afternoon.

EDIT: One of the guides I found on XDA had re-locking my bootloader as a step. Ended up not working, was gonna just a flash stock OTA from htc1guru but needed to unlock my bootloader again. Did it and system update button came back and lollipop was waiting for me. Updating now.

If you were already unlocked you could have just flashed one of the lollipop roms from xda.
Would have got you the lollipop rom without all the hassle.

    It's on YouTube too.
    Leaks were correct!

20MP rear camera. Single aluminium body brushed on the back and polished on the sides.
Still has the black HTC bar.
    New dotview case

Available in mid March. Launches with 4 colours.

Its awful similar to the last two phones. Bit disappointing

I'd argue that the M8 was a fantastic phone and they simple made a few changes to make it better. Trying to reengineer completely risks making a crap phone

I won't disagree it was a fantastic phone however they risk being accused of the Galaxy lines 'saminess' that had had an impact on sales, re all the unsold units of S5

I've had the HTC One M7 for the last two years. Was hoping for something more in the design stakes but still think I'll be upgrading to the M9. Wonder if it'll link in to the HTC Vive VR headset they've just announced with Valve.

I'm definitely upgrading, I just want to know when I can get my hands on it. They said it will be available in Europe Mid March - but who knows when the Irish networks will have it...

It would be a good upgrade from M7 to M9 but I don't think the M9 is much of a jump from the M8.
I doubt I will be tempted to buy an M9 for that price as I have the M8. Roll on the M10 lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Yeah I've an M7 and the moment and should be able to get an early upgrade now so it’s down to a straight choice between the M9 and Galaxy 6. It’s a bit closer than I thought it would be but the Boomsound speakers, the SD storage and bigger battery all swing it in the favour of the M9 but the initial reports about the camera and seeming lack of optical image stabilization could push me towards the S6. I see you can register your interest in the M9 now on three's website. Dunno if it will let you get the first batchs or anything tho.

Did you go into settings and check manually? Worked for me

I wonder how long its been available like that?!?!

BTW, is there anything I should know before upgrading to Lollipop? I was gonna root the phone this weekend. Can you still root on Lollipop?

If you use Horizon Go app, it will no longer work after the upgrade.

Hey everybody was wondering if somebody could shed some light on an issue..

Updated to Lollipop last week (m7) and have had issues with video playback since, seems to be related to embedded players.. a la Joe.ie and any streaming site I've tried , both YouTube and Facebook are fine.

Have they removed support for flash? You might need to download a flash player from some old repository and even at that it might not work

Did you use Google movies app (think that's the name) I played a video on that and I couldn't play anything on Netflix or YouTube etc after ward's. I had to kill the google app and clear the cache on all the other apps and restart the phone before I could play videos again

Yeah I went through all apps after I posted looking for any likely causes and systematically cleared caches then rechecked , got it working and then proceeded to immediately forgst which app it was so I'm of no help to anyone.

Seems to be playing embedded YouTube vids in an awful New pop out now though. Wish I hadn't updated.

I've done a search, but I can't figure out what to do. I returned my M7 to the phone shop last year (couldn't pick up 3G), they sent back an M7 and within an hour I realised the microphone was working. I sent that back and got a phone that switched itself off manually. Eventually I got a functioning M7, but has developed the purple tint issue a few months ago. This is the FOURTH faulty M7 I've had, three of them sent to me by Fónfix.

I decided to cut out the middleman and contacted Fónfix directly, but they directed me to the shop. When I explained that my dissatisfaction was with their shoddy replacement phones, they still referred me to the shop to 'escalate.' I know if I got back to the shop, they'll just send off to fonfix again and I'll probably get another dodgy phone. My warranty runs out the end of this month.

Any suggestions? Should I go directly to SBE?

Yes, probably would have saved yourself a lot of trouble by going to SBE first.

You can pre order the M9 in Carphone Warehouse now for €50, they still don't know the final price yet. The weak € won't help.

I have the new phone each 12 months with Vodafone so won't cost me much.

Nice one, just got the email. Seems like only Silver and Gold. Ugh, I really want to dark grey. Will they be doing it does anyone know?

Prices are extortionate for anything less than 24 month (Three). I hate tying myself in for that long...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Might hold fire for a couple of months. Prices on contract will drop when the new iPhone is announced.

€399 for 12 months @ €40.66 I don't think is that bad. Looking at expansys the phone is €840 so not really that bad

Yeah. It was the same with the HTC One M8. It was available for free on billpay once the iPhone 6 was released. It was no longer the newest, hottest phone out there and got a price cut by the networks.

To be fair, any phone would drop in price once they've been on the market for 6 months, whether there's a new iPhone released or not...

Wonder if anyone will be selling off the m8 for around 400ish?

Cheers , that's a ridiculous price , considering Carphone warehouse only offering 80 euros for an\my S4 trade in , gone are the days of a "free phone " once you sign a 2 year contract i guess , unreal :(.

Unless you're willing to wait 6 months when the price should drop

Probably because we have pretty high mobile market saturation?

Anybody hear about HTCs free 12 month replacement of the m9 or m8 if you break it? I hope they bring it to Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭dan786

Up for pre-order with Three. 639.99 on prepay. I got the M8 last year as it was a significant improvement but looks like will be staying away this time.

Hi everyone just wondering could anyone help me out here,

Yesterday i got a software notification to update and it was the Lollipop update for my HTC One M7 Billpay on Emobile, i had about 25% battery left when i plugged it in to download the file and install it,it downloaded fine but hung on the installation screen and then rebooted into a boot loop ending on a screen with a HTC One pictured with a red exclamation mark inside it,

i had a quick Google and i can get into the bootloader where i have the options for Recovery, Factory Reset etc but everytime i pressed the Factory reset option it would just reboot into the HTC start up splash screen and then into the screen again with the phone pictured with the red exclamation mark

What will i do now, can it be fixed by myself or will i send it in for repairs as its still under warranty until October 2015

    Thanks

I've a question about the camera on the HTC one m7. I know off the purple tint problem but I'm having a problem with the back camera highlighting my flaws. Any redness or acne is the really exagaratted by the camera. Now I thought it was just my crap skin but I noticed the same happens when I take pictures of my friends. (Who I believe have great skin). Any one else have this problem?
