A delegation from western Canada including senior officials from the British Columbian Ministry of Jobs is visiting Dublin this week.

The group have projected that over 300,000 jobs will become available in Western Canada over the next two years.

Senior officials from Canada will be holding talks with Government officials and representatives of the construction industry this week.

The delegation will attend the Dublin Working Abroad Expo in an attempt to identify sources of skilled labour to help fill thousands of vacancies in the construction and related trades.

The projections are that around 335,000 job opportunities will arise in British Columbia and Alberta between now and 2014, mostly in construction.

The biggest demand is for: carpenters, electricians, welders, plumbers, heavy equipment operators and millwrights.

Thought this be of use to someone...

Dont be one bit sickened you didnt go Jack. i heard the organiser last monday morning on newstalk http://media.newstalk.ie/ 22 mins in.

the organiser said over 12,000 attended the expo, 250 job offers were made,10,yes 10 provisional job offers were made to mechanical engineers.......... you do the math, take into account the queuing, the 10r in,plus a bit of grub, plus petrol = a waste of time for the majority.

    contact the companies online.
