Advice needed - Data protection breach

    Hi guys,

    Just looking for advice on something, hope I'm in the correct section.

    I was sent a promotional email for an event in Dublin last week but in error there was an attachment included in the email. The email had been sent to approx 400 people and in the attachment there was an excel file with everyone in the promotion's name, home address, mobile number and email address.

    I have since recieved an apology email and was requested to delete the email with the attachment.

    As I find this a major breach of data protection I want to know what I should do from here. I have already sent the Data Protection Commissioner an email and am currently awaiting their reply.

    Sue them for a million dollars.

    I'm sure there is more you could do - but accidents happen and realistically you won't suffer any consequences from this. Just delete the file and forget about it imo.
