Planning permission gone in for a significant extension of Supervalu (about 25% extra trading floor area).

Apparently a chocolatiers opening in the unit recently converted from a house on the main street.

If you live out the Moyglare Rd, it's faster to take back road to Kilcock and head to new supervalu there. Better parking and nicer as it's new.

Take a left at the crossroads past Moyglare Hall and keep to the left at the fork in road. Keep left the whole way around and you come into Kilcock square. It's 5 mins from the cross roads, all be it on some narrow roads. No lights.

Think I'd prefer to shop local to be honest. It's as quick to get to Supervalu in Maynooth from Moyglare Hall.

Disagree when you take traffic lights into account, there's a huge margin to and from depending on time of day.

I use Maynooth one a lot (especially for fishmonger) but factors that influence are getting through the town, getting parking, getting out of the Glenroyal and through the town again.

You will do Moyglare Hall to Kilcock one in under 7mins with no traffic lights and plenty of parking. Easy to exit too.Try it some time.

Don't the Nally's own both and Celbridge? So, same difference apart from local employees.

Edit: you can also factor in these new roadworks that were so wisely initiated the week the students returned instead of the Summer. 12wks worth.

They do. And the manager and butcher both worked in Maynooth before Kilcock.

I found the new Super Valu in Kilcock nice but with a lot less choice then Maynooth.

Looking it up on http://webgis.kildarecoco.ie/PlanningEnquiryLIte/default.aspx it is #6. I can not find it though.

There's no planning in for that I'm aware of.

Starbucks drivethrough refused at Tesco. Reason given is that new buildings there should be multistorey/mutli-use.

A building like the Starbucks/McDonalds/offices complex in East Wall if anyone knows it would likely be approved on that basis. That has a drivethrough within the ground floor of a build.

Saw an advertisement for this on Facebook yesterday, L'Art Du Chocolate. Oh my phone so can't link. I think they might still be trying to get funding, but they're giving a date of end October. Artisan chocolates, and specialising in different varieties of hot chocolate.

I for one wholeheartedly endorse this endeavour. Yay chocolate! :D

Thai restaurant opening where Xtravision was apparently... seems a bit odd when there's one opening down the town as well

  • Registered Users Posts: 68,806 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Planning may be a bit strange there - there's planning for a restaurant (no takeout) on the car parking *beside* Xtravision but I don't remember for Xtravision unit itself. I'll take a poke.

edit: 12/157 to turn Xtravision to a Chinese restaurant/takeaway was refused.

Interesting! The guy who said he's opening it was around yesterday, chatting about opening times etc

    No way. By whom?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,175 ✭✭✭angeldelight

I have no idea tbh, heard from two different people today who would generally have a good idea of what's going on in the town

I'll be in McMahons soon, I'll see if they know of any names.

    Gleesons apparently.

    re-opening as a nightclub again?

  • Registered Users Posts: 68,806 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Market is there if you do it right. Cut the pretension, cut the sodding prices, get rid of the in your face toilet attendants and power tripping security, etc, etc.

If it is the Gleesons (Mercantile), they mostly run pretentious holes but can do other stuff. If they try a pretentious hole again, it'll close again. Town may be expensive, foody etc but its not D2.

    No idea.

You'd want to have deep pockets opening those doors again. There's 900k owed to countless lads for work done and stuff provided. They'll be looking for their money or they'll take their stuff out.

Planning permission for a takeaway was turned down beside where Xtra Vision was before so I can't see it happening.
It would be nice to have a nice coffee shop though.
