Does anyone know anywhere in kildare where you could get a kids jersey personalised with name and number? (already have the jersey so can't do it via a sports shop)

Why not? I'm sure they would be more than happy to charge for the service.

Elverys etc.. will only do it if you buy the jersey from them

Bought some of these (not this exact seller, but same deal) a few years ago for a 5-a-side team.

    They iron on pretty easily

Inkjet in Maynooth will do it. I got teeshirts printed there before.

I think the uniform place beside Haven Hire do them too.

The frites hut at Circle K has got planning now

Went out to get take out lunch today and a lot of places were VERY quiet, but some at the other end of the scale with huge queues.

I'd recommend anyone who finds a huge queue goes to check somewhere else as I'd be worried some can't possibly be making enough to keep the doors open and the staff working.

For evening takeout, it would be good to remember Kin Khao. I just can't imagine they are doing well. The food is amazing so it would be such a shame to see them go.

Someone mentioned to me that there is a Leondias chocolate shop in Maynooth, I think they said up by tescos. I must be going around with my eyes closed because I have never noticed it

It’s one of the tiny sections in underneath Tesco itself beside the escalators

Thank you, that would explain why I haven't noticed it

While its not a "new" shop, Donovans has converted what was the seating area - won't be needing one of them any time soon - in to a specialist food section. Charcuterie, cheeses, higher quality pasta, some Asian ingredients etc. If you don't live nearby you might not have gone in; but there's products there you won't get in the supermarkets even

And while its not a shop at all; this sort of functions as the general Maynooth thread - planning is in for the second Gaelscoil, out by the new secondary schools. This is a non-denominational one, the existing one is run by a Dublin Diocese linked body.

The site location is odd. From the image I saw on Facebook the school will be at northern end of the education campus, right next to the county boundary by the bridge, and not next to its present location. But according to the planning for the secondary schools this land next to the bridge was to be reserved for future road realignment.

They scammed me with a Pig's back voucher they refused to honour, because "they had sold enough already". Can't imagine I was the only one. Food looked interesting but that was a permanent red card.

That's a shame to hear. Food is really good.

Re Kin Khao, great food but we have had a few issues with their takeaway service. Nothing lately but they struggled at first and again when re-opening after initial lockdown.

Yeah they got caught on the hop when the lockdown was announced. I ended up collecting rather than wait for the delivery. Totally worth it for the food you get.

Prob best take out in the town. Shout out to Maams Indian as well.

Not to be pedantic, it's a common error but I think that school, like most others, is multi denominational and not non denominational.

That's really disappointing and surprising. I've found their service to be excellent.

I've used them 3 times and had issues each time, most recently a few weeks ago.
    Nice food but badly run.

Sign up on the place beside Yeah Burgr, it's a Mexican food place called Besburritos (can't remember if that was mentioned before?).

There is literally no results on Google for "Besburritos":
    https://www.google.com/search?q="besburritos"

Signage looks a bit cheap tbh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,031 ✭✭✭Patser

Can you check the ground for a missing T from that name?

  • Registered Users Posts: 68,806 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Mexican's an option we've been missing; there was one for a few months previously but it was sketchy as hell.

Will be the second new place to open since Covid came, which requires some balls to do.

Interesting to hear about Maams I’ve been avoiding based on just thinking it doesn’t look great

MaMs is fine albeit on the hotter end of the spice scale usual; it also smells fantastic if you're in Londis in the evenings. Still prefer the Delhi Darbar

Yep when they say spicy it is spicy.

Also found it to be great value. Reasonably priced and big portions. Only had the veggie options, about 6/7 dished tried not a bad one yet.

Burrito place badly needed in north kildare :)

    Mams/Fusion is great, highly recommended
Have yet to be in for sit-down, hopefully at some point in December!

Even their predecessor in that building was decent IMHO. Maams is better mind. I only get takeaway.

I miss not being able to eat in there - as good as the take-out is, eating in is 100% better. Nice decor, good service, roll on December!
