Not getting a break latey, a win, a refund and a loss!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Shelbourne 15/2 to beat Pats tonight, it's not a patch on the 15/1 available on the initial match but tonigiht could be a shout. Fahey, Fagan and Forrester have all received offers from UK supposedly so should be out tonight all going to plan.

We were very unlucky, Pats took their chance but all in all we could have snatched it.

    Extratime.ie summed it up better:
    Shelbourne 0 - 1 St. Patrick's Ath
90' + 2' - Full Time - The game has ended between Shelbourne and St. Patrick's Ath. That's it from Tolka Park here as Pats just about manage to get by Shelbourne with the home side in truth being the better side throughout the contest.

    ***League of Ireland Bets***

Not getting a break at all lately, last weekend seen a win, a loss and a refund. The four of us have come up with 2 bets we all agree, I personally like Bohs/Bray BTTS but Brays squad is looking very light.

    Cork City –v- Shamrock Rovers – 7.45pm
Cork have scored at home in all of their 13 League games to date, 8 of them matches have seen the away side scoring too.
Rovers have scored in 10 of their 12 away games to date.
Both Teams To Score @ 21/20 (GENERAL) - MEDIUM

    Drogheda –v- Athlone – 7.45pm
Since Robbie Horgan departed Drogheda as manager, they’ve managed to notch up 5 wins, 3 losses and a draw. They’ve not conceded in their last two League games while bagging 4 goals. They’ve hit a bit of form, with 3 wins on the trot in all competitions while not conceding a goal.
Athlones away form is dire, 10 losses and 3 draws this season so far. Scoring just 12 goals, conceding 27.
The home side are also missing Gavin Brennan and Ciaran McGuigan who both miss the game through suspension.
    Drogheda win @ 4/5 (GENERAL) - MEDIUM

    Rest of the matches:
Bohs -v- Bray - Goals but Bray look light due to suspensions.
Pats –v- Dundalk – Live on RTE, I can see this going only one way, Dundalk win. Pats looked very weak and lacking an end product in both FAI cup matches against Shels.
Derry –v- Sligo – Derrys captain left the club midweek, their League form has been dire of late with 4 losses and just 1 win. Could be value in Sligo.
UCD –v- Limerick – UCD need a win to keep pressure on Bray, Limerick have lost their last 2 League games 4-0 and 3-0. UCD could surprise here.
Waterford –v- Shels – Shels need a win to keep their title challenge alive, while Waterford sit 2nd last and failing to score in their last 3 League games as well as not scoring in their last 3 home games.

1/2 might be short for Bohs but I would want to find a way of backing us tonight - we are playing so well lately that despite still being a lower-mid table team, I wouldn't put anyone off backing us -1 or even HT/FT.

  • Registered Users Posts: 542 ✭✭✭crustyjuggler

I'm going to back Bohs alright . Might leave off the - 1 though . Not too sure about City V Rovers being BTTS . I have a feeling Rovers might sneak a one nil . Fenlon is well into his defence and has always been a thorn in City's side .I'm going to go with Gavs prediction as his stats look good again. Going for Drogs win aswell and a Shels win and throwing in Brazil win with BTTS ( 16 / 5 ) .

Keep an eye on the team news pregame, Bray could be struggling big time!

    Bray Wanderers

    Doubtful:
    Adam Mitchell (D, 19, 0).
    Eric McGill (M, 11, 0),
    Adam Hanlon (M, 16, 1),
    Philip Hughes (F, 6, 0),
    Shane O’Neill (F, 17, 1),

    Suspended:
    Michael Barker (D, 6, 1),
    David Cassidy (M, 24, 3),
    Dave Scully (F, 22, 4),
    Ismahil Akinade (F, 25, 2).

Lads any opinion on BTTS UCD v Limerick?.

it's 13/17 best price at mo on 888sport and 8/11 in general outside of that, but as usual 5-10 mins in play will probably bring it to evens.

    Landed last 6 H2H

Recent form doesn't make it so certain on each side though. Taking from Gavs post that UCD really have to try to get the win and adding in that Limerick should be looking to change up recent dodgy form (you would hope at least) anyone fancy this?.

Injury doubts over Rogers, Conneely & Russell mean Sligo Rovers could have just 8 senior players available for tonight's game @ home to Bohs

    Ocean FM Sport ‏@oceanfmsport 19m
Keane, Henderson, Ledwith, Keating, O'Conor, Davoren all definitely out for #BitoRed

Sligo struggling big time for tonight's game with Bohs.

Bohemians are surely worth a nibble @ 3/1?

Posted that info in the Facebook group a while ago, definitely worth a few quid. Derry struggling too with players supposedly.

Too late for a write up, Dundalk -1 Asian @ 1.90 - Medium!

Derry playing their 2nd choice keeper and missing a few too, along with their top 2 goalscorers this season plus others.

The Derry boss had this to say to the Derry Journal, “To be honest I couldn`t care about Dundalk,” said Hutton. “It`s about us and making sure we`re competitive on Monday night with one eye on Friday`s game.

I personally staked large, but I've tipped 2 large this season and both lost so said I'd play it safe. I'm listening to it on the radio and 5-0 is modest.

    ***League of Ireland Bets***

Only 4 matches tonight, and 3 of the 4 of us have agreed on the lot (Damo didn’t get a chance). Hopefully a few nice winners with the end of the season in sight. Short enough write ups.

    Athlone –v- Bohs – 7.45pm
Athlone in dire need of 3 points if they stand any hope in staying in the Premier Division, while Bohs have little or nothing to play for.
The sides have met twice this season with them ending 3-1 and 2-2, the win in the favour of Bohs. While Athlones last 5 games have seen BTTS to score come in and Bohs last 4.

Both Teams To Score @ 5/6 (Boyles) – MEDIUM
    Athlone DNB @ 13/10 (BetVictor) - SMALL

Bray Wanderers –v- St. Pats – 7.05pm (Match is live on RTE2)
10th place meets 3rd in the Carisle Grounds, with Pats wanting to keep up the pace and hang onto 3rd spot. Pats on decent form in all competitions, while Bray have been struggling big time. Rumours that Bray needed 50k by Wednesday to stay running were rift after a meeting last week but that seems to have been and gone but the players haven’t been paid in 6 weeks. Only today Bray issued an appeal on the people of Bray to get out and support them financially in the last 3 home games of the seasons.
No major team news but moral will be low in Bray!
Pats are unbeaten on their last 8 visits to the Carlisle Grounds winning on their last visit 3-1
    St. Pats -1 @ 23/20 (GENERAL) – MEDIUM

    Shelbourne –v- Shamrock Rovers B – 8pm
2nd placed Shels host Rovers B. Shels need a win to keep up the pressure on Longford, Shels are 1 point behind and a 10 goal difference so they’ll look to narrow that here aswell!
Shels are missing Adam O’Connor suspended (four yellow cards) and Willo McDonagh and Keith Quinn, joining long-term absentee, Darren Tinnelly on the injured list, Adam O’Connor the main concern but there’s cover there. I was down in Waterford at the last Shels game and we looked good, conceded a silly goal and probably could have won by more.
Rovers first team play in the EA Cup Final on Saturday and the League on Tuesday, with their U19s playing on Saturday too away to Wexford so it will be very much their B side fielded in Tolka.
    Shels -1 @ 5/6 (GENERAL) - MEDIUM

    ***League of Ireland Bets***

Coming into the business end of the season and there’s nearly a full set of matches tonight in both Leagues, and the 3 us have agreed on a treble of bets. Hopefully a few nice winners with the end of the season in sight. I'll be about inplay as I can't make it to Donegal for the Shelbourne match so anyone in the Facebook group will be getting inplay info! :D

Cork City –v- Sligo – 7.05pm (Match is live on RTE2)

Cork know that anything short of a win will leave their title challenge on the ropes. Corks home form this season has been decent and they’ll be looking to continue that form, they’ve played 14 games at home this season winning 9, drawing 4 and just losing 1. They’ve only conceded 9 goals at home so far while scoring 24. Sligo have hit a brick wall lately picking up just 4 points in their last 5 games, and their manager has recently left to take up the job at Accrington Stanley. Sligo have lost 8 of their 14 away games this season, winning just 5 and drawing 1.

On the injury long-term injury victim Michael Rafter is the only definite absentee, while Garry Buckley and Darren Dennehy return from suspension. John O’Flynn and Gearóid Morrissey have both struggled with knocks this week, with Caulfield set to assess both players closer to kick-off.

Sligo are again without Alan Keane and Jeff Henderson. Former Cork duo Kalen Spillane and Iarfhlaidh Davoren definitely miss the game also. Dykes is sweating on the fitness of both Gavin Peers and Gary Rodgers. Both picked up injuries in last week’s defeat to Drogheda and only trained today (Thursday) with the team. That's definitely 3 first team defenders, a rotational defender, and possibly another rotational defender and first team keeper out for Sligo.

Only thing stopping this from being a large is due to Cork being brutal when being live on TV.

    Cork win @ 19/20 (WilliamHill) – MEDIUM

    Drogheda –v- Bray – 7.45pm

Bray fighting to avoid relegation while Drogheda have hit a decent bit of League form. This is short and sweet – Bray are leaking goals away from home lately, in their last 6 they’ve conceded 20 and scored 6. Drogheda hitting decent form and scoring while conceding! Looks like a high scoring game on paper.

United have suspension worries again this Friday as both Shane Grimes and Peter McGlynn have received additional bans following their dismissals in the FAI Cup home tie against Derry. Grimes has an extra match to serve while McGlynn has been handed a further two game ban. Garreth Brady will also be missing through suspension while Gary O’Neill is rated as doubtful and Cathal Brady looks set to miss out again with a hamstring injury. Brays injuries worries have subsided with just a couple out.

    Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/6 (GENERAL) - MEDIUM

    UCD –v- Dundalk – 7.45pm

Dundalk travel to Dublin to face off with 2nd from bottom UCD in a match both teams know they need to get points from. Although Dundalks away form isn’t a patch on their home form we fully expect them to keep their title challenge momentum going! 8 wins out of their 14 away games this season, Dundalk will want to add to that! Dundalk have brushed UCD twice this season already, beating them 4-1 and 5-2.

This is only a small stake due to UCD nearly points badly.

UCD have 3 long-term injury still out, with Gareth Mathews suspended, Chris Mulhall comes back to the squad after being out injured. Dundalk just without 2 long term injuries.

    Dundalk -2 Asian @ 1.90 (GENERAL) – SMALL

    Rest of the matches:

Bohs/Limerick – Could be value in Limerick at 3/1
Derry/Athlone – Athlone need points, Derry nothing to play for. Could be value in Athlone
    Pats/Rovers – Dublin derby, avoid.
Waterford/Longford – Should be an easy Longford win
Harps/Shels – Should be a low scoring Shels win even with them nursing a lot of injuries
Rovers B/Wexford – Should be an easy Wexford win

    Corks odds been hammered in!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Mixed bag, Cork done well but could have easily threw it away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

4 matches in the League of Ireland tonight, no much stands out at all as value.
Rovers need to beat UCD in order to keep up the chase for 3rd place but UCD need to start picking up points in order to stave off relegation! Rovers -2 Asian looks a decent bet, I'll be waiting for inplay as star keeper Barry Murphy is doubt and he would be a big loss even against a weak UCD side.

Bray host Derry in a match that means nothing to Derry but could put Bray one step closer to survival. Bray at just below 3/1 will definitely be worth keeping an eye on inplay.Derry will have one eye on their FAI Cup Semi Final match on Sunday.
Pats will look to hold onto 3rd place and will need a win against Bohs to keep Shamrock Rovers away, again another inplay one to watch.
In the First Division Wexford host Harps, odds on Wexford have been hammered in. Wexford need a win to stand any chance of a play off place while Harps will have one eye on their FAI Cup Semi Final match on Sunday. No value whatsoever in this, could be value in Harps + handicap.

Cork look like a banker at 1.5 at home to Drogheda. Cant see Drogheda being to pushed to get anything and help Dundalk win the title.

The way we have been playing we are certainly not a banker. Bad conditions as well. 1-1 or 2-1 at a push and a little on drogs to score first, we've a habit of going behind.

    ***League of Ireland Bets***

Coming into the business end of the season and there’s nearly a full set of matches tonight in the Premier, no First Division matches as they’re all on Sunday as the season concludes for them (barring the playoffs). Tough set of fixtures tonight.

    Athlone –v- Dundalk – 7.45pm
Bottom versus Top with both teams in need of the points for very different reasons. A point separates the Athlone from the automatic relegation spot and to avoid the drop they will have to pull off something special to beat a strong Dundalk side.
Athlone are without Sean Brennan who serves a one-match ban. Stephen Quigley, John Mulroy and Sam O’Connor are also all side-lined with injuries.
Dundalk return to action after a fortnight break althought they did play a midweek friendly against LSL side Sacred Heart. David McMillan misses out from the trip with an ankle injury while Simon Kelly is doubtful ahead of the fixture.
Athlone are without a win in their last 11 games, 7 of them being draws and 4 being losses. Dundalks form this season has been excellent, with 20 wins, 6 draws and just 3 losses, with 13 clean sheets.

    Dundalk -1.5 @ 9/10 (Bet365)– MEDIUM

    Shamrock Rovers –v- Bray – 7.45pm
The fans in Tallaght are already starting to get on Pat Fenlons back in his new role at Rovers, it looks likely they won’t get 3rd spot and a European place while they crashed out of the FAI Cup Semi Final midweek.
Rovers have Jason McGuinness suspended while Barry Murphy, David O’Connor, Stephen McPhail and Dean Kelly are all likely to miss out due to injury. Barry Murphy is my main concern here!
Bray will be without four key members of his squad who are suspended for Friday night’s game. Ismahil Akinade, Shane O'Connor and Niall Cooney along with Captain Dave Webster.

    Rovers -1.5 @ 19/20 (BetVictor)– MEDIUM

    Bohemians –v- Sligo Rovers – 7.45pm
Short and sweet on this, this is a bit of a dead rubber game but there’s definite value in Bohs here. Sligos recent away form has been brutal with 6 losses and 2 wins in their last 8 away games. Bohs recent home form has been decent with 5 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.
Both sides missing a few players, Sligo with probably the bigger issues.

    Bohs win @ 8/5 (GENERAL) – SMALL

Derry City/Limerick – Fairly certain the Derry players would have been celebrating their progression to the FAI Cup Final so that may shine through here. Limerick brutal away from home, so Derry 6/5 could be worth a look inplay.

Drogheda/Pats – Pats need a win to keep the distance with Rovers for 3rd placed, they’re in great form too. Drogs missing a few players. Pats at 3 /4 looks good.

UCD –v- Cork – Really fancy Cork here but Graeme thinks they may stumble. Again an inplay bet if anything.

    ***League of Ireland Bets***

The penultimate round of Premier Division games sees a full set kicking off at 7.45pm, with Bray-v- Dundalk being shown live on RTE2. Myself and one of the other lads like the 4 handicap bets while the Corkie likes all 3 bar Cork as he's a nervous wreck.

There’s a First Division playoff between Galway –v- Shels, and not even thinking about a bet in that! I'll be making the trip to Galway so won't be about inplay for bets/team news. Dundalk, Cork, Derry and Pats look like a banker, but I can see one slipping up.

    Bray –v- Dundalk – 7.45pm
10th versus 1st with both teams in need of the points for different reasons. A point all but guarantees Brays Premier Division status in 2015.
Brays form for the past 5 months has been dire with just one win (which came against 2nd from bottom UCD) in their last 19 games, drawing on 5 occasions and losing the 13 others.
Dundalk will look to get over their hiccup on Monday against Shamrock Rovers and back to winning ways while extending their 4 game clean sheet record. Dundalk know if they win and Cork lose they’ll be crowned Champions.
No injury/suspension worries for Bray. Dundalk without David McMillan for the rest of the season, while Simon Kelly is doubtful.
    Dundalk -1 normal @ 3/4 (Boyles) - MEDIUM

    Cork –v- Bohemians – 7.45pm
2nd placed Cork host 8th placed Bohs in what’s a dead rubber game for them while Cork no anything but a win leaves their potential title hopes hanging by a thread, if even that. Cork will look to keep their 5 game win streak going and their excellent home record this season on front of what’s expected to be a near sell out of their final home game of the season.
Bohs away form has been poor as of late and I’d imagine it will be coming in Turners Cross, losing 4 of their last 6 aways and drawing the other 2.
Cork are without Michael Rafter and Danny Morrissey who both miss Friday night’s penultimate game through injury, while Josh O’Shea and Gearóid Morrissey remain doubts, after injury.
Bohs being without a number of senior players through injury, defenders Derek Pender and Dan Byrne through injury, Aidan Price and Paddy Kavanagh will also miss the trip through suspension, while Roberto Lopes is unavailable due to academic commitments.

    Cork -1 Asian @ 1.85 (GENERAL) - MEDIUM

    Derry City –v- UCD – 7.45pm
UCD travel to Derry fighting for their Premier Division survival, they sit just one point off bottom spot, which a much worse goal difference and are in dire form with 6 losses on the bounce scoring just one goal and conceding 18. Derry have little to play for but they have the FAI Cup final in just over 2 weeks so players will be wanting to stake their claim for a starting spot on the 2nd of November in the Aviva Stadium.
Derry with just one minor player suspended while UCD are without 2nd top goalscorer for them Samir Belhout and their manager O’Callaghan who are both suspended.

    Derry City -1.25 Asian (GENERAL) @ 1.85 - MEDIUM

    St. Patricks Ath –v- Athlone – 7.45pm
Athlone travel to Dublin fighting for their Premier Division survival, they sit in bottom spot just 1 point behind UCD. Pats have nothing to play for as they’re all but guaranteed 3rd spot (Have a 14 goal difference over Rovers) but they have the FAI Cup final in just over 2 weeks so players will be wanting to stake their claim for a starting spot on the 2nd of November in the Aviva Stadium.
Pats in great form, with 5 wins and a draw in their last 6 League games. While their home form this season has been excellent with 12 wins from their 16 home League, drawing 2 and losing 2.
Pats with no major team news, while Athlone will be missing a few.
Just on a side note which may see Pats and their fans more hungry, the family of Chris Booth (A Sheff Utd and Pats fan who passed away in Poland earlier this season while over at Legia Warsaw –v- St. Pats) will be in attendance and also Pats Ultras (SEI) will have their friends over from Ravenna Ultras in Italy.

St. Pats -1.5 Asian or -1 normal (GENERAL) @ EVENS - MEDIUM

Drogheda/Rovers – Dead rubber match for both sides here, Pat Fenlon is planning a huge clear out of players supposedly, each will want to stake their claim for a new contract. Goals in this I’d imagine.

Limerick/Sligo Rovers – Dead rubber match for both sides here, could be value in Limerick win

    ***League of Ireland Bets***

The final round of Premier Division games sees a full set kicking off at 7.45pm, with the title decider between Dundalk and Cork being shown live on RTE2, should be an absolute belter of a match, Cork need just a draw to win the League, Dundalk need the win! At the other end of the table UCD and Athlone, a UCD win will see them in the playoff. All stats, etc… go out the window!

There’s the Second Leg of the First Division playoff between Galway –v- Shels, Shels trail 2-0 after a poor showing in shocking weather in Galway last week, I’m praying we manage to claw it back but I can’t see it happening.

    Athlone –v- Bray Wanderers
Bray are safe from relegation while Athlone need a win to have any hope of avoiding the automatic relegation spot. Rumours are rife this week that the Bray players had a meeting due to unpaid wages (possibly back dating to weeks ago) and supposedly skipped training, rumours of a possible strike tomorrow.
Athlone not with any new injury or suspension worries. No team news for Bray.
    Athlone win @ 4/6 (GENERAL) - MEDIUM

    UCD –v- Drogheda
A win for UCD will see them in a playoff game next week, anything else could see them facing automatic relegation depending on what happens in Athlone. UCD nicked a win up in Derry on Friday, can see them getting a result here, they may be in dire form but they know what needs doing.
UCD are missing Hugh Douglas probably their best player but a few return to the mix.
Drogheda manager Damian Richardson will have to overcome a mountain of players that are unavailable. The injury list at United Park has been getting longer in recent weeks with Mick Daly, Cathal Brady and Daire Doyle all set to miss out. Gavin Brennan is also unavailable as he serves the third of his five game ban while Dylan Connolly has been chosen to start in between the sticks.
    UCD win @ 8/5 (BetVictor) - MEDIUM

    Bohemians –v- Derry City
A nothing match in Dalymount, Bohs with a few players returning after last week but still missing a few while Derry could rest some players with the FAI Cup Final in mind on Sunday week. This is thought to be Owen Hearys last game in charge of Bohs as he leaves to take the reins at Sligo if the rumours are to be believed.
    Bohs win @ 13/10 (GENERAL) - SMALL

    Dundalk –v- Cork City
As in the opening part, title decider between Dundalk and Cork being shown live on RTE2, should be an absolute belter of a match, Cork need just a draw to win the League, Dundalk need the win! Dundalk have put a temporary stand into Oriel just to house an extra 750 fans, tickets sold out in an hour or so for them 750. Going to be an unreal atmosphere, a game to sit back and watch.

    Shamrock Rovers –v- Limerick
Another nothing match, Rovers look way too short at 4/7. Could be a match for goals.

    Sligo Rovers –v- St. Pats
Another nothing match, Sligo in dire form while Pats are in excellent form barring last weeks game against Athlone. Similar to Derry, Pats may rest players for the FAI Cup Final on Sunday week. Sligo odds look too big.

    Shelbourne –v- Galway – 8pm
Shels 2-0 down after the First Leg, I was down in Galway for it and it was poor, very poor. Shels have to go at Galway straight from the start, Galway are a strong counter attacking side. Can see this going over 2.5 goals.

2 wins and a loss. That season couldn't end quick enough betting wise and Shelbourne wise.

    ***LEAGUE OF IRELAND OUTRIGHT BETS***

Pats should be handy money but no value.

Cork City +18 points @ 17/2 (Paddy Power) – Small Stake
Finishing 6th last season was a respectable finish, but new manager John Caulfield will be wanting more this season. Daryl Horgan is the biggest loss to this seasons Cork side, but they’ve managed to bring in some excellent additions. Elding, Dennehy, Rafter and Darren Murphy. They’ve also re-signed Liam Kearney on his return from Australia (although he was playing with non-League side Avondale beforehand). A couple of other Avondale players signed on board too.
I can see Cork possible sneaking into 3rd place at best, with St. Pats and Sligo being above them. Cork will be battling it out up there with Rovers and Dundalk in my opinion for 3rd/4th/5th places.

Bohemians +26 points @ 17/2 (Paddy Power) – Small Stake
After avoiding the drop last year Bohs have been fairly active on the transfer front. Lee Murphy, Jack Memery, Paddy Kavanagh, Jason Byrne, Steven Beattie, Aidan Price and Craig Walsh. A few great additions and will surely make competition fierce at Bohs.
The likes of Pats, Sligo, Rovers and possibly Dundalk and Cork will form the top 5 places at the top but after that it could be wide open. Think 26 points is generous for the team Bohs have put together.

    Shelbourne @ 8/1 each-way (Boyles) – Small Stake
I hate backing my own side but the more and more I look at the teams in the 1st Division and more I like it as a value bet. Although the average age of the squad is around 21/22 we’ve signed a few strong players John Sullivan being the main one, vital part of Dundalks push for the title last year returns to Tolka. On top of Sullivan, Keith Quinn and Jordan Keegan have potential to be excellent players at this level. A large portion of the squad is made up of our current Under 19s side, which has walked away with the League this season, which is great to see. What I like about our side is nearly every player has a point to prove, they're all up for it and most of the lads are local Dublin lads who know what Shels are about.

Longford on the other hand have gone for the tried and tested method, it's their managers last chance supposedly to get them up. They’ve invested a huge wad of cash supposedly and you can tell by the quality within their squad.

Galway’s on paper are starting to look strong, but will they go up in their first season? I personally don’t think they will. Waterford have lost a good few players and not much replacement has been brought in. With the top 3 being paid out I’d have to say this bet should at least yield a small profit at least with the each-way odds.

Cork handicap strolls in and Shels e/w comes in too!

I fancy Galway to get promoted in the Playoffs and fancy Pats to beat Derry in the final, may have write ups.
