Something written in fountain pen ink will still be around when this stuff on Boards is lost in some electronic graveyard.

Not true. I print off boards threads to read in the jacks in work.

    50 grand a year it's costing me.

Nah paper degrades but each of our posts are turned into electromagnetic waves which will leave earth and travel the length of the universe to be picked up by an alien SETI, so people be careful what you post. You are representing the human race to some future alien intelligence.

True about the paper. What will probably survive longest is something written in stone. I have SETI at Home on my computer a very worthwile project.

I use a quill and ink when I'm writing parchment letters to my mistress under the fiery candlelight before delivering it to my butler who goes off on horse to give it to my lady-in-waiting- and then I eagerly wait for days on end for her reply... what else, oh yes, crumpets.

I don't agree, although privately funded it is still a big waste of resources and time. Even the famous WOW signal has been explained and it is from this earth.
