USB issues after new build

    Hey guys i only put my new rig together about a week ago and iv been having problems getting my external hard drive and my card reader to connect to the comp. Everytime i connect them it does nothing for a few seconds, then i get a malfunction message. The external drive was working fine for a day or two then suddenly disappeared, the card reader hasnt connected once. The both work on my laptop just fine. Im using windows seven. Neither the card reader or external drive need and software to use. Other usb devices like my mouse, keyboard and tablet are working fine.

    Did discs come with them with drivers? W7 is usually good for preinstalling any drivers needed but with my new build i did last weekend it didnt install all drivers, i had to use 1 or 2 cd's for some of the components i bought.

    Well windows did install some stuff but i had to install the GPU and MOBO drivers and tools from the discs supplied. One strange thing is when my pc boots up with the external drive connected it hangs on the bios screen for maybe 2 minutes with code 99 in the bottom right hand corner. With the external drive not connected it boot up in a second or two. My motherboard is the z68 extreme 3 gen 3

    google the chipset for your motherboard and dl the latest drivers from the chipset manufacturer rather than using the native windows 7 driver

    also boot into your bios and make sure usb legacy support is enabled
