Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My partner has a crown that was put in 2006 tooth was also root treated, it needs to be re-crowned now but the gum has receeded to the second layer (dont know the terminology) She has been told she needs a skin/gum graft to seal this up before re-crowning the tooth.

Has anyone got this done before and whats the prognosis on a skin/gum graft, any problems to look out for or things that could go wrong?

Any help in anyway would he great, thanks

    Hi,

the worst that could happen is that the gums don't heal. But usually the treatment is not too bad.

No thats not the worst that could happen, you could be left with a much larger defect from a failed graft. The crown most likely will have to be replaced after the graft regardless as the cause of the recession is often decay around the margins or inaccuracy of the marginal fit. These graft are very operator sensitive. Best go to a very experienced dentist or periodontal specialist for this kind of surgery.
