I started running about a year ago after giving up the cigs.
I do a 5k every evening monday to friday and a 10k sat morning and take sunday off.I started with a pair of nike pegasus 28 and put 650k on these without injury.Got a pair of asics kayano 17's and put about 400k on these and got a present of kayono 18's nyc marathon edition and have put about 250k on these.
Over the last 3 weeks i was having a major pain in my left heel all day and since last thursday night i have taken a break from running. Its seems to have just about healed now after a week and i intend to go back running this weekend.
I had the gait analysis done last year in Elverys on they said i had a did not over or under pronate.
I found the nikes away softer and bouncier ,but i found the asics more stable ,would anyone recommend one brand over the other ?

They said you didn't over or under pronate so you are Neutral.
Big difference between the Pegasus(neutral) and kayano(support)

Brand wise it is differnt for everyone.getting the right type is the most important and what suits you.

Im a neutral runner and my preferred shoe is the Nike Lunarglide 3 which is listed as a stability shoe now.I have Saucony Triumph 8 neutral shoes and cant run for more than a few miles in them without getting shin pain.I guess the Dynamic Support in the Nikes does what it says on the tin,its there when you need it and not when you dont.I think that while finding the right type shoe is important there can be big differences in the same type shoes(i.e. neutral, stability etc...) across the varying brands and its trial and error to some degree to find the one that suits. Also,if you're a neutral,I def dont think you should be in Kayanos.

It's not the brand it's the type of shoe that's the problem. If you don't pronate, you should be wearing Asics nimbus (or similar), not kayanos. Kayanos are Support/guidance shoes designed to correct pronation and are likely to injure a neutral runner

Asics all the way,I have rheumatoid arthritis and bone deformity in my feet,my doctor recommended Asics as they have an 'eva' sole,(substance that's akin to suspension in a car)they significantly lower impact to your joints, especially knees and I can pop them in the washing machine too,Nike look better but that's all as far as I'm concerned.

EVA is in most running shoes (it's a foam)

Go to a proper running shop and get gait done.

They shows you more brands than just Asics and Nike. Personally i made the move away from Asics to New Balance and couldn't be happier.

Asics is not better than Nike and Nike is not better than Asics. Both have good shoes in their range (probably make 40 different running shoes between them easily - probably a lot more). Personally I prefer Nike tech like lunarlon over Asics gel (too clunky for me) but others will be the other way around. As another poster also said there are also plenty of other good brands - Saucony, Mizuno, New Balance, Brooks etc. etc.
Many shops (usually non-running specialists) advise to get Kayanos as they have a nice profit margin due to the price!
