Occupy Cork Unoccupied?

I'd imagine I still have 'plenty of support' - not that I wanted or needed it to make a post here. What political campagn do you think I have started btw? As far as I'm concerned, I haven't started any. I'm just making posts on a forum.

For the record, I walk past Occupy twice a day, so it's easy to see and overhear what's going on. There are no Protestors there anymore, only a single Protestor. Also, yesterday, I met with a Solicitor friend while out shopping who used to give advice to the Occupy movement here in Cork - and it's even his opinion that it's just the usual left side remaining since the real Occupy movement left.

TBH, you're being a bit shortsighted, the dogs on the street know the Occupy Movement was a front for the Socialist agenda for a few months and that the real Occupy Movement had long since despaired and gone home.

I'm personally delighted that Cork Council are following Dublin's suit and making plans to remove the rest of the camp. The original movement's fizzled, and the majority of people (The 99%) would like their City back. Those remaining ironically have become the new 1%, going against what the major populace want.

The Waterford camp was dismantled today.
Workers for the council discovered an amount of drugs and needles around the campsite.

Anybody who tried to argue that they were not crusties and hippies, still want to back that up after the above quote?

To be fair, the official occupy crowd left that site weeks ago, who knows what manner of junkies have been there since?

Now I'm behind that Un-occupy Cork Facebook so I'm extremely biased but let's try to be fair.

The guys at the camp are also verbally abusing the owner of Electric now on his way to work in the morning.

You know I really don't get the protest.
They claim to be protesting the people who caused the economic mess yet they shout at a fella who is creating jobs?
Make up your mind ffs. It's that utter sense of entitlement they seem to have that annoys me so much.

    Ernest Snr?
He used to usually start work before 7am when I worked in town years ago.

Jnr I think, but I stand to be corrected on that. You know these anti-ageing products these days :D

Passed by on the way home and saw that three new tents were set up next to the main tent. They must've moved back in to make it look like the occupy movement is still active.

Why didn't they remove the camp last week when there was only one person staying there overnight. Surely the knowledge that a removal in the middle of the night is now imminent will encourage protesters to move back in.

I hope they remove it sooner rather than later. It's a complete joke at this stage. It looks a state, it's embarrassing to have it in a nicely redeveloped area of they city.

Whatever about the occupy "protests", this Freeman stuff really drives me mental. It's complete head case stuff. Definitely some level of instability there. It's bordering on delusional.

Tis Ernest Jnr getting heckled on his way to work, the job creating bast**d :P

For the last 2 weeks ish it has been the main shed structure and 3 tents, I pass it most days.
The protestors have said that they will decide tomorrow whether or not to remove themselves in time for Paddy's day.

I hope that is the case cos if the council motion gets passed in 2 weeks then we may witness Dame St like scenes which isn't in anyone's interest.

Honesty, I think the time is coming for an occupy occupy movement. They claim they're all for freedom of protesting etc. but I'd like to see how'd react to a protest urging them to piss off.

Was over by there tonight and there was a few more than were there during the week...Seems they have realised that having too few has them moved on at night...

To be quite honest, the area smells now and is disgusting, move on the bastards, protest is OK, a dirty protest is just disgusting.

Yup, it looks like they've tried to muster support, I counted 5 there yesterday. There also seems to be a bookshop setup in the main hut. Do they have a traders license to sell books? There's not just a few, there's stacks of brand new books there.

have walked past them everyday since they set up camp. at the start there was almost 20 tents and tons of them fecking oafs getting the traffic to honk. now there is about 4 tents, which look unoccupied and a big shed thing they've set up. i;d glady walk over and throw them all in the quay :)

A lot better than those up in Galway at least. Who still refuse to move from the town square...at least our little lefties were out at the side, in a nice area, but not in the middle of the city.
