Hi i have just noticed in the media in the last few weeks that if you switch to Electric Ireland you can get a discount of 14% and 6% on gas and electricity. I am currently with Bord Gais for both elec and gas. Just wondering if anyone has switched and if the discounts make a noticeable difference?

    Daithi try www.bonkers.ie
    http://www.bonkers.ie/compare-gas-electricity-prices/

This comparission site will allow you to enter your historical usage, current tariffs and will then it wll you which is the cheapest option for you from all the providers.

For me it was to switch electricity to electrical ireland and gas to flogas.

Hi Daithi (and thanks Robbie for your input :))

We have Price Plans for new customers that offer up to:

    11% for electricity only or
Up to 14% on electricity and 6% on gas or
Up to 6% on electricity and 14% on gas

Electricity discounts are off the Electric Ireland standard unit rates; gas discounts are off the Bord Gais standard unit rates.

Full details of our current price plans, unit pricing, charges, and terms and conditions are on the following link on our website.

Pricing can change, but % discounts will remain for the term of the Price Plan, once applied to an account, and once terms and conditions are met.

Our current standard unit pricing is:

    24 hour meters: 16.19 cent
    Day/Night meters: 17.29 cents/8.55 cents

These prices do not include VAT.

If you decide to switch your account(s) to Electric Ireland, we would require the following information (where applicable):

    1. If you had an ESB account before, please provide the account number
    2. Full contact details, bank account details, date of birth (for data protection/security)
    3. MPRN (meter point reference number) - found on a previous electricity bill
    4. A current electricity meter reading
    5. GPRN (gas point reference number) - found on a previous gas bill
    6. A current gas meter-reading

Once we have your information and instruction to proceed, we take care of the switch process. You do not have to contact your current energy supplier.

    All the best,
    Una
