as many of us eircom customers cannot get the full 24mb/s we are paying for Eircom should throw us a bone and increase the upload speed a bit more.

i regularly use teamspeak 3 and the 640k/s average upload speeds is a tad low.

if eircom increased that upload speed to 2mb/s it would mean it would work better for teamspeak 3 skype, and msn messenger.

it would be a kind gesture to all your customers that cant get the full 24mb/s download speeds we are paying for.

another option would be to introduce a mid range product (max 16mb/s) that is cheaper than the 24mb/s product. that way customers would feel like they are getting better value for money.

    Hi Nothingbetter2d,

There are no plans to increase the upload speed of the standard broadband or NGB Packages I am afraid.

Currently the "up to 24MB broadband" is the fastest broadband speed available on the eircom network for those two broadband services.

Assuming you are on NGB, because the only broadband product available higher than the "up to 8MB" customers who have a line capable of 9MB or higher can choose to go on the 24MB NGB product.

Customers may only get between 10 -24MB, but that is for the same price as the standard 7MB broadband package. We just need to advise of the product parameters.

    Thanks, Mark

Why tough what is stopping you from providing faster upload speeds?
Is it the max that your exchanges can handle?
How come business customers get a upload of ''upto'' 1.1Mb/s but yet other lines are some how limited to 512kbps?

I can get uploads on mobile broadband of over 3Mb/s but it's always over 1 seems strange Eircom can't provide us with higher uploads seems disappointing for a fixed line service and for the price of fixed line broadband every month!

Also the 24Mb service only offers uploads of ''upto'' 768kbps .

    Hi jay93,

Thanks for your post. I appreciate what you say and eircom are continually trying to improve and add to their broadband products; So change will come.

eircom broadband is Rate Adaptive, i.e. a distance dependant* technology. (*The distance between the modem and the exchange it is connected to.)

Upload speeds are not the equal to download speeds. For example, on a broadband connection of 1MBps, the maximum download speed could be approximately 1MB (1024kbps), but the upload speed will be 128kbps. This is the very nature of ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line - asymmetric meaning unequal).

Please see below : eircom current Broadband Products with Maximum downloand and upload speeds

    Standard broadband

*Note: The maximum product speeds quoted for eircom broadband are not guaranteed and depend on the quality of your phone line and your distance from the exchange.
