Just heard this on the radio lads. I don't have link. Maybe someone will be able to put one in as I am on a phone.

I applied there last year and failed. I am sort of happy I failed now. I guess wow is not doing as great as it did.
They are axing language and tech support departments. :(

    Sad news

    Sad news alright,
I suppose it's got to do with blizzard losing players to other MMOs and F2P MMOs

No probs, ShadowHearth. Sad news. From RTE:
The games company Blizzard Entertainment is to seek around 200 redundancies from the 880 people it employs in Cork.

The company announced the establishment of a customer support centre at Blackpool in the city in September, 2007, and since then staff numbers have risen sharply, based on the success of Blizzard's games like World of Warcraft, and Diablo.

It is understood the staff affected are language and technical specialists working in the area of customer support.

Blizzard is one of a number of hugely successful online gaming and entertainment companies and has its headquarters in California.

The company announced this evening that it will cut staff numbers globally by 600 people.

Staff in Cork were briefed on that decision this afternoon, which was taken following a review of the business and was based on what the company said was its current organisational needs.

Blizzard says it will now enter consultations with staff in Cork through an elected employee forum, and it pledged to help employees affected find new work, either in Ireland or abroad.

The company has said it will continue to offer the same level of customer support in eight EU languages from its centre in Cork. and sources have told RTÉ News that the company's future there is secure.

Most of the company's 880 employees based at the Blackpool Business Park are involved in customer service, with 30 nationalities represented among staff.

So a third of the job losses are in Ireland, bloody typical. Eurogamer reported 600 job losses there yesterday. :(

Well seeing how they moved all the jobs not requiring French from their Paris office (HQ) back in 2007 it sort of becomes natural that Ireland gets hit by it when they cut down languages accordingly.

Read about job cuts in Blizzard ealier and assumed this would happen. Sad news. Best of luck to all involved.

    I blame Sean Sherlock myself.

I still cant believe Sherlock was allowed pass that. How he expects to get re-elected again I will never know. Disgraceful.
