First time I saw that shot I think it was in Warfare magazine a very long time ago, early 90's? Likely was a cover shot.

The shot was from the first Gulf War iirc...

Nope,it was during a Naval excersise.
Iowa fires a full broadside of nine 16-inch (410 mm)/50-caliber and six 5-inch (130 mm)/38 cal guns during a target exercise near Vieques Island, Puerto Rico.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Iowa_(BB-61)

The only thing USS Iowa was firing during the gulf war was cruise missiles,iI doubt the guns would have the range.

    from the article
The new ship, which weighs almost 2,000 tonnes, can hold 54 people.
lol, I'm sure it can hold plenty more if they really try!

HMS Barham Explodes and Sinks, 1941. Dramatic Newsreel footage captured the sinking of the Queen Elizabeth Battleship.

A salvo of torpedoes from a German submarine struck from close range on HMS Barham on November 25, 1941 in the Mediterranean. Within four minutes, the battleship had listed over to Port and the ships magazines had exploded, sinking the battleship and killing 863 men. The terrifying explosion was caught on film by Pathe cameraman John Turner who was on an adjacent ship.

This July it will be 4 years since they all moved on from Loch Striven and went back to active service, I can remember at the time the locals surrounding the Loch weren't too happy with the sound of generators breaking the peaceful silence of the locality plus the inital light pollution was of concern (although the vessels were later reduced to the bare minimum of lighting), I also seem to remember divers being sent down to survey the bottom for any damage done by raft blocking light reaching the depths of the loch!

The nearest one has a differently designed superstructure, the funnel is there alright, it’s just tucked in nice and neat at the aft end of the superstructure, lower profile than the other ships.
