Once the pride of the UK fleet and nation. The QE2 (remember her?) is still laid-up in Dubai and pretty much abandoned with all the plans for her in tatters.

I've done 17 weeks no shore time at all. A 4 week trip with that level of comfort and toys would suit me just fine ;)

I mean from a work perspective rather than time. DP work is boring as eff, despite the comfort etc

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Another alternative. The cable ships, best of both worlds IMO. More toys, ROV's, Trenchers, Plows, cable engines etc. Was surprised to see this one in the harbor at home at the weekend.
Spent some time running around the Caribbean on a similar one of these early 2000's before the cable business went pear shaped, was around 10 week on 6 off then. Then they were way better conditions and much more civilized (Bar on board etc.) than the vessels doing oil/gas work.

Still in Donegal bay it seems.

Yeah that was a good gig at the time and a real pity it went pear shaped. I heard great things about it, was told it was 6x6 weeks like the car carriers and plenty of time alongside.

The container trucks are like ants :)

I'd be more impressed if it could be managed without dozens of trucks burning diesel than I would be of it being automated tbh
