Apparently not.... There is nothing on the forward deck that will require crew to be there. (So long as the light bulb on that forward poll continues to work!)

All of the anchor mechanisms are below the ship....

All to reduce radar cross section.

Yes, that's a British Royal Navy Sea Harrier on the deck of a Spanish ship after a most unconventional landing...

Really great quality photos of ships from a bygone era.

One of the largest heavy lift/crane vessels, the Saipem 7000. She can lift 14,000 tonnes!

    Saipem_7000.jpg

But look at the men for an idea of scale and also how awkward to board if you don't have a helicopter handy!

Quite a tough looking supply ship. But you can guess what the other crews in the fleet have renamed her...

Was on almost identical one of these Tidewater vessels recently. When departing vessel in Broome this oddball was on the other side of the quay.
Chief officer called her the Kimberly Love Boat.

Jeez, I confused her with a cruise ship at first sight. I don't know if that says more about my thoughts or about the cruise industry? ;)

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Taken last week in Newcastle Upon Tyne as a car carrier leaves the shelter of the river and meets the rollers coming in off the North Sea. I've been out that harbour many times and even in calm weather it feels almost like that!

Just out of interest why did the pilots in the Rotherdam video swap life jackets before the left the helicopter?

I imagine one is automatic and one is manual. An automatic lifejacket in a helicopter is not good. If the chopper ditched and rolled over you'd be stuck inside it as it sank.
