Over time yes however this looks like a newish puppy so someone's obviously been ploughing heavy seas with the sticks down on a crossing..
They probably can't get to it to knock it back out because it's below the mooring deck so probably a bosuns storeroom and you know how they can get

Full of timber apparently, I remember getting a day off school 20 years ago to go down to the Flaggy Shore in Clare with the father to load up trailer loads of big planks that had covered most of the coast overnight, must have been a big cargo that was lost. Theres still stacks of them out in the sheds.

One of the main offshore support bases for the North Sea, Den Helder, Netherlands.

What's interesting to note here is how clean and minimal this busy port is. This set up could be any port in Ireland if and when the offshore industry gets going here.

Are all those support ships there because its really busy- or its quiet because of the downturn in the oil industry. :-)

lots tied up and even more taken out of water altogether, the auld fella is a captain working for gulfmark offshore and so far has escaped redundancy but many others weren't as lucky

That photo is from the good times, plenty of activity going on there. A really great port to spend any time in, especially in the summer when the beaches fill up :D

Den Helder was a VERY welcome port of refuge for us in a F9/10 a couple of years ago.... shame we didn't get to spend more time there but never was I more delighted to see a busy operational port (which normally I'd run a mile from!)

Go offshore, plenty of good money there (they just don't tell you why they pay good money...!)

I've spent most of the last few trips on the other side of the Shetlands, more often than not running for shelter in either the Shetlands or south towards the Moray Firth. It's a grim part of the world
