Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mysteries, do you find the price of razor heads for ladies razors completely astornomical!! €10 roughly for 3 blades?! Ridonculous!

God yeah. Do you use the Wilkinson's Sword one? With the blade and lathery stuff all in one? That's the one I use and I think it's a tenner for three...I only shave under my arms and my legs, so I don't need to get them too often, I'm not that hairy thankfully :D But yeah. Rip off. Mind you, so is buying anything period-related. I didn't choose to have them, I don't want to pay for them!

Yeah, I always mean to buy the period stuff in bulk, but I never get around to it!

I use the Venus ones, fecking expensive, you can get either the blades with or without the soap block on them!

Weekly: 50 on the car, 30 on rent

The rest completely varies but I guess I'd say about 20 ish on social life, sometimes it's zero and sometimes it's over 50. Depends on my work schedule for the week.

No it ain't. I'm quite far from what you'd call a 'nancy boy' and I use lotion on my face after I shave or have a shower because my skin needs it.

260 quid a month on cigarettes? 40 on 'toiletries'? You could save a fair bit if you just quit smoking and stop sh***ing so often.

I bought 4 toilet rolls when I moved into my new place at the start of November. Still have 1 and a half....

Turns out you don't save anything...just spend it on booze instead :D

You know what "topical" means in this context yes?
Not everyone is as lucky as you and I to have perfect skin alas, I can't blame some people for using moisturisers, probably handier than having to constantly unclog the washing machine when all the dead skin gets caught in it.

I assume you also spend as little as possible on absolutely everything you buy? Cheapest TV, cheapest car, cheapest food etc.?
Spending a small bit over the absolute necessity isn't something I would refuse to hang out with someone over. If so the only people I would drink with would be those who drink paint thinner.

Yeah, topical creams means viral disease, I get it. Dead skin clogging your washing machine? How much skin do you shed? Are you a large mammal with dermititis? Christ! My dead skin only means a dusty mantlepiece occasionally.

Yeah I'd generally try and keep my money where possible. I don't just give it away willy nilly. And when I do, I prefer to spend my money on things that will actually give me enjoyment, be that drink, cars, food, the GF, whatever. Toiletries and that kind of stuff are a means to an end and I wouldn't spend anymore than necessary on them. And almost 500 quid a year is a bit much for me! I'd rather half that and spend the rest on a cheap holiday. I think anyone that believes in "quilted, velvet" branded toilet rolls because there are cute puppies in the advert is a bit too easily led for their own safety. Just an opinion. But I suppose I'd easily spend 10 a week expecting one animal to run faster than another based on form and the weather, so I shouldn't talk.

Topical just means anything applied to the skin. Painkilling gel, wart treatment, coldsores, suncream, antibac **** for cuts or whatever.
As I said in my other post, my skin is fine, many people don't have fine skin. I know a couple of people off the top of my head who I know have to moisturise a lot. One of them because their skin constantly peels otherwise, the other one because their skin will constantly crack. I know **** all people and less who I'd talk to about this stuff so it doesn't seem too uncommon.

Aye but on top of that there's loads with bad skin with no diagnosable reason. Only advice there is for them usually is moisturise and/or exfoliate very often.

Also would I be the only person who'd put day-to-day medical stuff like painkillers etc. in the "toiletries" column on a budget?

True. Acne looks like a bugger to deal with too.

And to the second part, no, but I didn't consider it. I bought Nurofen just yesterday for about a fiver - half of this week's budget gone, bam. Just goes to show there could be other 'hidden' costs we don't consider.

About €200 a week. €40 - €60 on petrol, €50 - €60 on food for house, €40 over lunches, the odd mag, coffee etc., very little on clothes at the moment and about €40 - €80 on socialising, the odd take out, dog food, presents for nephews, nieces, friends etc. Some weeks more is needed, some weeks less, I'm trying to save and live within our means.

Chill out. Deep breath. You'll get a coldsore from all that stress. ;)

Now, you're right, spending on these things is a means to enjoyment, but I've never enjoyed shaving foam or shower gel, so I choose not to waste money on that stupid ****.

And I stand by my point, men who use this stuff are nancy boys and pansies. And you wouldn't have any need for topical creams if you were clean and didn't go around being rode like a stolen bike. Just saying ;)

So using shaving gel and shower gel means you are a nancy boy and you don't use either???

I'd say there's some bang of neglect off of you!!!

Some people enjoy not cutting the crap out of their face when shaving. Some use safety razors, some like disposables. Some people like to not have their eyes sting in the shower.

And you still don't seem to understand the word "topical".

No I said I just buy the cheapest stuff going. My reason being that it's the same thing regardless and I wouldn't waste extra money on it. I'd keep the money or spend it on better stuff.

I do. You have a disease and you need cream for it. It's grand. Don't worry about it.

Are you from the 1800's or something?

I'd love to have lived in Deadwood...but sadly no:

This started as friendly banter and some light hearted fun. But I'm starting to get bored now because work is over! Peace offering:
