nct at the end of the month, so i need a service done, preferably not by a cowboy who when shown a car does a sharp intake followed by "well it'll cost you.." its a toyota corolla and its bulletproof so i know not much more than the usual needs to be done. anywhere reasonable that will have it done the same day?

Do you have a Tesco club card by any chance?
If you do you could use your points against a service at advance pitstop and save some cash.

I've used Hegarty Auto Services a few times and I was very happy with them.
They have spots in Templeusque, Upper Glanmire, Riverstown and Ship Street just off Penrose Quay

thanks for all the recomendations guys, speaking of advance, my sis just got onto me about an offer similar to tescos, an advance service for 39 euro, so she got me signed up for that.

I would not let them service my wheelbarrow.

Me neither, I bring my wheelbarrow and all my plant machinery to a specialist :pac:

There are a lot of very good guys mentioned here already. I don't think Advance are one of them.;)

Precision Auto Services, mayfield. They're good guys and a lot of taxi's use them which is a good sign imho (specially for corollas:D).

Some of the chain/franchise garages operate on a low cost service price to get people in who then suddenly find that they need lots of new parts

Great deals on car servicing at the moment - it will pay to shop around.

If you don't mind the cost of returning to the NCT for a second time, consider going for the NCT before going for the service. It can be helpful to have a proper list of things to do, in order to pass the test, get them done, and then go back for the NCT retest.

For any Audi/ VW/ BMW I've used Ardfallen in the past, very realiable and reasonable.
Cost a lot less than main dealer with similar service level.

That's not really the end to be starting at, the NCT won't cover a lot of fairly basic service items.
