Road markings in cork city

Does anyone know why they have burned off existing road markings and re-did them. They've basically realigned the road to include for what appears like cycle lanes but these appear & disappear out of nowhere. Can anyone shed some light on this please??? They've actually reduced lane widths on roads where they were already…

I often wonder about liability in an r.t.a. I can show you plenty of places up and down the country where the markings are misleading and clearly unsafe. Take the road from to tower from the Anglers Rest in Cork. Have a look at the road markings and try not to laugh or crash.

True. For this reason, while I drive, I tend to concentrate on the road itself and other road users rather than the markings.
