AIB cheque clearing time

Hi i have an AIB cheque from AIB galway but will be lodging in AIB portlaoise, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CLEAR? If i ask the banker who cashes it will i be able to draw down on the funds immediately?

Depends.......

An AIB ROI cheque drawn on an AIB ROI account lodged to an AIB ROI account in any AIB branch clears for FUNDS (interest) immediately.

An AIB ROI cheque drawn on an AIB ROI account lodged to an AIB ROI account in any AIB branch clears for FATE ( will it bounce or not) over 5 working days.

Your account might be set up to pay against cleared or uncleared for FATE funds or not - a lot depends on how much your bank trusts you.....

so it could be immediately or it could be 5 working days.
