Without being too pedantic thats stop motion animation not time-lapse photography.

Good job. You need to work on your lighting and camera position. These both need to be 100% consistent for the effect to be maximized.

think its really good but is more of a stop motion video rather than a time lapse, you do need to work on lighting and maybe think about changing the page for every scene next time as it does take away from some of the scenes eg.flip phone

I wouldn't worry about ^humberklog^ you have obviously just starting to use boards as a way of getting c+c which is fine. Your animation is great would maybe like to see another?

Thanks to everyone else for their replies they have been great really appreciate it. As for humberklog, I have just starting using boards, and sorry I didn't realise that you expect me to reply so soon I don't have much time to check on things like this. I try to once a week which I think is fair enough. Thanks for the well done though, glad you liked it.

Like the others said, consistant lighting and some different camera angles would work well.

And clean the board every so often.

But really, really good job with this.

Adriatic, go for ALL manual settings, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, focal length and switch off autofocus (that is the constant movement of the picture, tiny bit in and out).
Me thinks :-)

Yeah I was about to say that, lovely time lapse but I was getting seasick with the movement!

Yes, I had autofocus on apart from that it was all manual, well now I know for the next time.

Was waiting for a remote timer to arrive for nearly 3 weeks so as soon as it did I got out & about over the weekend, short stroll around Wexford to test it out

My first real proper go at doing a timelapse, I think in the last scene I must've left the autofocus on by accident as it seems to jump slightly, also the manual focus I think might have been a bit arseways in some of the others as the pics dont seem sharp & detailed?....what I was generally doing was pressing the button half way to autofocus, letting it focus & then switching it off (is this a bit of a focusing faux pas or?)

Really wanna get a ND filter now so I can drag the shutter more in daylight (for use with my kit 18-135 as the fisheye lens is obviously curved) but not sure about the varying grades?
Was thinking maybe the Hoya HMC ND400 67mm if anyone can advise or are the Pro1 series better?
Have seen some reviews online saying the Pro1 "digital" series are a bit of a scam & the HMC allow more natural colour into the lens

Here's one i did, wasnt happy with the camera setting but still worked out well, was done over 6 hours with 2 photos every minute!

Hey guys!
I know this is more of an appreciation of timelapse type forum but I was just looking for a bit of advice if anyone can offer it? I'm planning a timelapse with a 550d using the EOS utility software as I wont have a remote timer. Ill have the mac plugged in but I will not have an AC adapter for the camera. I only really need to capture a room filling up so I dont think Ill need to shoot for too long but probably at a higher interval rate. My question is though how long will a battery last? Ill have it on manual focus and the room is fairly well lit so depending on that it shouldn't be too long an exposure. Any other tips and advice for this kind of timelapse is always appreciated!!

That was really well done!!

As someone who has dabbled into stop motion ckaymation, I can truly appreciate the time and effort that goes into producing something that may appear as simple.

My only critique would be that you need to improve the lighting a bit. The animation was a bit dark and there was flickering which results from changing lighting such as when using natural light as a light source. Too avoid it you'ld need good quality lights to control the lighting of your set... But its still very good!

3-4 hours I should think. I have the same camera and shoot timelapse too. I think you'll have more than enough battery life to get what you want. Late reply I know, but I only JUST started using this again to post in this thread.

Okay so, the guys beside me had a house party last night which carried on till the wee hours, this in turn left me with no choice but to stay awake all night and as such i stumbled upon this little beauty of thread. in my delirium i left my apartment at 7 this morning and amassed a couple of thousand pictures which i intended on working into a time lapse. However it has not worked out the way i thought it would.

Would any of you kind ladies and gentlemen care to suggest an appropriate program to help stick all these photos together? I used my trusty kickon dslr to gather the pics and succeeded spectacularly at failing Adobe After Effects.

Any advice appreciated. Please and thank you.

The program LRTimelapse is supposed to be the best. I've never used it so I can't say. At the moment I use Adobe Lightroom. It gives you the ability to sync any edits you make to one photo to the other thousand or so you may have. There's also a "slideshow" section in Lightroom that you can use to export a video but you need to download the add-ons for the frame rate and quality. Before that I used Windows Movie Maker and it was absolute hell. I had a terrible laptop too so I had to export the photos to video 100 at a time. Then join the short clips together to make longer clips. I'd recommend Lightroom because it's the best I've used. Hope this helps.

Thanks peoples, i noticed a sharp drop in the quality of the pictures once the file is rendered. is this normal/something to do with the file type i am choosing?

I've got 2 more which I still have to finish editing which I must try and get done this weekend.

I was in London last week and have recorded one from Westminster bridge looking over to the London Eye. I Recorded 500 photos during daylight and then I was going to do another 500 in the dark but it started to rain so only managed about 150/200 photos. I then blended in post so it looks as if it turning from day to night. Just need to finish editing it, but I'll get it thrown up this weekend if I get a chance!!
