Was a quay wall stolen in Dublin?

While discussing brazen robberies with a friend, he brought up a case in Dublin in the 90s where some fellas set up an apparently genuine road works operation on one the quays.

Under their legit cover (because everyone assumed they were council workers) the gang proceeded to dismantle the wall at the quays for its high quality stone and then drove off.

Does anyone know if the story is true, or is it just an (obscure) urban legend?
