Where is the cheapest place to get about 3 tonne of topsoil delivered? Priced a few places and what they were charging for a bit of dirt seemed like extortion to be honest

For stuff like topsoil you get what you pay for. If you are looking just for 'a bit of dirt' then you might be able to find some, but it could easily be a mix of subsoil, sods, roots and rubbish. Building has dried up so there is less source of topsoil. You only want 3 tonnes, which really isn't a lot, not going to solve a contractor's problems of getting rid of a load from a building foundation, so hardly worth his while sorting it and delivering it. If you look at all the issues involved you might find it worth while to pay a bit more for some nice quality stuff.

You should know if you priced it, and proper topsoil is graded with no roots weeds or large stones.

go out to the new construction project out in the WIT sports campus, there is a mountain of top soil out there freshly out of the ground. You will need to talk to foreman though
