How important is the pad man in a fighter's training camp & what is it that gives one pad man the edge over others?

Do ye think they would have needed to be fairly sharp boxers themselves?

    Opinions please:rolleyes:

A pad man can be 2 things, many are good at working lads out and don't do much technical work at all-others are all about technique

An ideal pad man will mix both work and correct technique both offensively and defensively, punching, guard and footwork.

A good padman is very important to a boxer-I think having been a good boxer would definitely help especially technically and tactically.

In saying that I know good pad men that never fought, problem with these guys is sometimes they do combinations that don't work and they would not have experience to know better.
