koi breeding

    anyone on here have done this? my friend has a huge whiskey type barrell and wants to put a few koi in it to try breed . pass the time etc lol.

    also if anyone has any koi for sale few young ones . let me know .

    No whiskey barrel is big enough for koi; they grow to over a foot in length and need hundreds of litres.

    If he digs a big fish pond they should be ok in there, but if he just wants a barrel he'd be better sticking with something like White Cloud Mountain Minnows.

    where would you recomend a plastic pond base or a LINER ?
    he said the garden option would be better. grass grows to quick and it would take the bad look off it .

    Definitely a liner, a very big one. There's a guy on the gardening forum has a lot of experience with ponds, he'd be able to tell you what would be the best way to do it.
