Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I see no-one is rebuffing the 'all Aussies are arseholes' point of the second poster... :)

probably because it's as moronic as saying all of any nation are arseholes - doesn't warrant much of a reply....

In relation to point No. 6

We have mosquitoes in Ireland, the commonest being Culex pipiens. They can be seen hovering over water and marshy places in the late summer and early autumn, especially in the south and east of the country.

Australia has never appealed to me as a place to even visit!!!!!

    Hi there,
My 2d worth. I spent a month working in Melbourne, way back in 1997. The worst weather was equivalent to a dull Summer's day here, the people were almost always friendly (least friendly were the few Asians I came into direct contact with, Italians and Greeks and Croats were fine, didn't meet many Irish but a good few Scots and English, who were all fine). I really enjoyed Melbourne as it was easy to get around and it had a huge variety of restaurants and a lot of things to do, especially water-related activities like sailing, scuba, surfing, etc. The pubs varied from "pokie machine" gaffs, full of alcos to theme pubs (irish in a box ) places, lots of which were "the duke of..." or "the dog and duck" English-style pubs. I enjoyed my time there and would go back again anyday.
    regards
    Stovepipe

I would of said the same about Ireland 15 years ago - and I have lived here 12 years now. :)

I think it's a great place. The weather is fantastic and there is so much coastline and amazing beaches you can have all to yourself. The food is the best in the world I've had, amazing seafood and great quality everywhere. I miss the place and would love to live there full time. I could go fishing or surfing after work while living in the city. Sigh, those were the days...
