    Hi there!

Just to start before this thread, is there a section in boards dedicated to videography? This is just entitled to do with editing but not the practical en of shooting??

Either way, I'm looking to know where people buy equipment from? Would ideally like to shop locally ie. this country, but all I can find is England and USA. I'm talking about jibs, glide rails etc?

    Where would you buy?

    Cheers

Ps, don't just say eBay either, I ideally like to try before I buy but if that's not able to be done well, oh well!

Photography would probably be the best place as it's more active and it's the same equipment. There's a sub forum specifically for equipment talk.

I appear to be buying most of my stuff from Amazon, they have a good big range of equipment. Another place would be pixmania.

I do use the photography section a bit too but these guys wouldnt have the need for jibs, glide rails, fluid heads etc relaly.

Might have a look at amazon and see whats there now!

I buy 99% of my gear online. Rarely in the shops here, you just get ripped off. Read the reviews, watch product demonstrations and you'll be ok.

Amazon and pixmania also host more specialised shops so I wouldn't rule it out until you've had a look to see what they have.

I've used Creative Video in the past and they are pretty competitive
also have got some stuff from Amazon, I generally steer clear of Pixmania (too many bad reports about them)
and of course i'v gotten stuff from E-Bay for instance i got some DSLR video related accessories from India!
    see here

If you purchase within the EC theres no other charge generally, except shipping, although watch out for cross border transaction charges by our wonderful banks when buying from the UK - if it's a big ticket item the cost can climb

usually anything you purchase outside the EU will attract Duty and VAT and can in some cases make the item as dear as here in Ireland.

    :)

I'd also like to mention I'd support a videography thread here on boards, It's something I think is lacking.

There is a Photography thread and Audio/Visual Editing, but nothing in between.

    Hi there!

    Google.ie not working today?

I'd buy from the UK, but if you want to walk in call Eurotek, visual impact or camerakit.ie.
