Utter beginner looking for a little advice

    To be honest I need a lot of advice, but I'll start small.

    I have set up a website with the aim of getting some monetisation through adsense.

    It will be a wordpress based content based website - nothing fancy, very simple. Catered towards people in the acting profession, it will include such things as a monologue database (or list... I'm not sure how I'd go about creating one in wordpress) a casting director / industry professionals contact list, a few various other bits and pieces and some odd snippets of advice/info here and there.

    Yes, I made the logo in microsoft paint. I'll get around to fixing that once I get the rest sorted and somehow figure out what I'm doing.

    FIRST ISSUE I'd really appreciate some help with is the site width. As you will see, the site is strangely wide... as in the scroll bar stretches quite a bit to the right... yet there is no content there.

    Would anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong, or how I'd go about fixing that?

    Your banner/logo image is 2109 pixels wide, this is why.

    See in the dashboard of your wordpress is there anyway to set your theme to two columns, you might get a better idea about that at swiftthemes forum.
