Actually Puzzlefactory you have reminded me of this place in Germany which I saw on TV

Theres a list of the places at the bottom some of which may be still standing

Fascinating link OP, but what a disgusting eyesore sitting so prominently amongst a beautiful mountain vista.

Is that where they filmed Inception OP?

I don't think it is an eyesore at all, I think it looks fantastic

Came across this website linked in the Dublin city forum somewhere

    http://www.abandonedireland.com/start.html

I thought the Baths in Dun Laoghaire and the diving pool in Blackrock were very interesting, just to see how quickly things can fall to ruin

Gotta agree with this. It makes for a beautiful landmark on the mountain rage. I also think it looks so much cooler in it's run down state. It's almost like it's part of the mountain. Would love to visit it, even if it is a pain in the ass to get to!

It's kind of impressive - on the one hand you can't deny its big UFO-with-a-sail shape is hardly natural and it brutally imposes itself on the landscape - but on the other hand it seems fitting as the only development in an otherwise unspoilt landscape.

Either way, if I ever win the Euromillions, I think I've just found my secret summer lair.

I thought one of the comments on the page was very apt
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away".
