Personal posession of cannabis and criminal records

    I am wondering if a person is caught in possession of, or buying even as small a quantity of cannabis as 1 gram, if there is the possibility of them gaining a criminal record. And if there is, how common are criminal records for people even in possession of small quantities of cannabis, or caught buying it.

    If you're charged, tried and convicted, you have a criminal record, albeit a minor one. If you're sent home with a clip around the ear, you're clear. If you get as far as a trial, and the Probation Act is applied without a conviction being recorded, you're clear.
