Thankfully. Still a tiny bit in the red but back in the game thankfully.

Hunt ball was a bit of a bonus

    Any major ups or downs?

Bad day at the office with Hurricane knocking off my big treble and fourfold! Trifolium reduced my losses mind you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

My Paddy Power account is down to 39 cent now.

    Shíte craic. :P

HF screwed a load of Trebles up.

Still Challenge to raise that to €3.75 by the end of the Festival, and buy a pint :P

Agreed. Deserves a ban for that ridiculous comment, delighted he lost.

Jp, Enda and Nina must be in tatters with the news. A 6 time Cheltenham winner Garde Champetre. Very sad news

Sweet. My minister for finance is gone missing too.

I'm happy with a €16 loss considering how the day panned out. Pretty much break even.

Awh news about Garde and Scotsirish - why can't they water the Cross Country course?

I finished up but I'm bitterly disappointed HF didn't win.

Decent day. 4 races out of 7 for moi anyway. In healthy profit. Happy days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

Down. Down. Down. Hurricane Fly killed me. 2-3 accums and multis gone with it and a fairly chunky single.

But bugger it, it's a marathon not a sprint but nearly got sick because I decided against backing Hunt Ball in favour of keeping money for tomorrow.

Fresh thinking, new start, small stakes and hopefully will claw it back. Positive thinking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭leggit

Down a fair chunk for the day thanks to HF being in 2 doubles and a Treble.

Could have been so much worse if it wasn't for Quevega and Hunt Ball.

Had a complete nightmare with the first 5 races, got my money back on Al Ferof from PP too so that's a little better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Last win for Garde Champetre in Bizzare Circumstances.

Deserved to bow out in style, not like this.

One of the Greatest Cross country Horses ever.

I am well within my rights to question someones opinion.

Yet they send me a pm with tons of abuse and no ban?

Horrible day altogether, What makes it worse was that cinders and ashes and hunt ball would have been 2 big hopes for me last week, But i let things i read in the meantime change my opinion. Working for the rest of the festival now and feeling rather ****ty about the whole thing.

Paid Friday and will do my Long run Boston bob double, Hopefully i can end the festival on a high note.

Had been saying Baltizar King for the last few weeks, a friend asked me who did I fancy in the race and I text him Baltizar King, but didn't do him.

Also never fancied HF but did him in a treble.

    Ditto :

Got off to a bad start with an E/W investment on Prospect Wells. Had Sprinter Sacre but went on to get savagely burnt on Hurricane Fly and further out of pocket with Sizing Australia.

Went all in on Quevega to get me back on track and used half the take as shít or bust capital on Hunt Ball in the last. A race I wasn't considering at all.

Am I glad I did now. Finished up 1.5 times better off than I was at half one today, but I'm a lot more cautious going into tomorrow.

PS - I'm backing the others who call for leaoj to be thrown out of here. No one who enjoys racing can stand by comments like that.

1.30 Have Cinders and Ashes at 20/1, might put a bit on Colour Squadron at 14/1 as his price is too big.

    2.05 Sprinter Sacre

    2.40 Quantitiveeasng 6/1

    3.20 Zarkander W/O HF 5/2

4.00 Scotsirish is a class horse, wont be betting much in this race though!

4.40 Quevega (Banker of the day) Kentford Grey Lady without.

    5.20 Nothing yet!

    Treble of SS,HF and Quevega.

    Decent enough day.

All winners today are by flat bred stallions [4 sires themselves are by Saddlers Wells].How long before we see the progeny of See The Stars go up the hill at Cheltenham.

Hurricane fly was a big let down I had a nice bit on a double with sprinter he never should have been odds on considering his stop start season! Had darlan (2nd) and sizing australia and scots irish! So a bad day all in all :( Heading over tommorrow im hoping the bookies luck wont continue!

    1.30 Steps To Freedom 13/2

    2.05 Al Ferof 11/4

    2.40 Hold On Julio 6/1

    3.20 Hurricane Fly 5/6 Banker!!

    4.00 Garde Champetre 8/1

Because it's a PM only you can see it (apart from the person who sent it). If you receive an abusive or problematic PM, there's a 'report PM' function on the top right hand corner of the box.

Harpsy chord must have lost 15l taking the route he did. he was 8-10 widths off the rails most of the way round. Thats a race to look closer at for the rest of the spring/summer.

Can anyone defend Lynch here? He was very tentative. And I know its Cheltenham and they're all trying, it just didn't look like he was.

Will have to watch it again cause I'm recalling this from memory and its bugging me

Actually you can disregard most of that - I'm talking crap. Good night!

Unfortunately both Scotsirish & Garde Champetre were fatally injured in the C-country race. RIP. Very sad for connections

    Am an idiot.

    Had trifolium e/w
    Sprinter Sacre e/w

And now have Hurricane Fly AND Binocular (both e/w) for the quadruple to come in :-(

Needless to say, am not a gambler!

    Just to finish this off...

Having staked £20 on teh above I went into Coral to get my winnings last night and got £22.89 back - the stupid bint took them as singles not an accumulator

    All bets are off

....Lynch was brilliant on him.The horse hated the ground when behind at start he jumped right so Lynch gave him daylight at every fence. The horse was careful at his jumping [first time to have ground that quick]then he jumped great.Could not live with the top of the ground horses turning in and Lynch took care of him as he could not be placed.Harpsy Chord beat Sole Witness at Gowran on soft [desperate ground]Sole Witness won next time out at AYR by 25l.I have seen this horse school quite alot on Donabate beach and has a big knee action.Nulty well done for spotting this and watch him on Irish soft or worse.

Fair play on the 10/1 on Sprinter Sacre! Was 10/1 the biggest SS ever was for the Arkle?

I reckon she's cursing all the stupid punters who don't know how to fill out a betting slip and then don't bother to check them after they place a bet.

    Thanks for the constructive input.

No denying I should have known better despite not having visited a betting shop in a while - I'd wrongly assumed she'd be able to tell me if I had filled in an accie correctly having stated it in plain Bearla to her.

Nonetheless, I'd say she doesn't give a sh1t about my welfare, nor me her's.

    Happy punting to you squire.

It looked like something wasn't right the whole way round and the race got away from him. It looked strange but I watched the race again after I posted and saw the horse just didn't look comfortable. The ground was very safe yesterday according to the jockeys who said it rode slow and dead.

It looked like the horse just wasn't carrying Lynch at all. His first fence just looked tentative but I didn't think the ground was to blame - don't know though. You'd swear Lynch didn't want him to know he was in a race. I don't think Sole Witness' form is as good as it looks - he beat very poor horses there getting weight. He was around 20lbs+ clear on the day at Ayr.

I didn't watch the race but had it up on Betfair, thought Harpsy Cord was going well, he went to about 3/1 in running

Of course I hevent seen your betting slip, but could you not have argued the case?

If someone had say 3 horses on a betting slip, with a €20 stake, it could be justifiablly argued that the bet was a treble. Like who is going to intentionally set out to put €6.66 (sh!t, dont like that number!) on a bet?

So the bet was split as singles? I would have argued that one.

I thought i heard the manager in Ladrokes in town say someone had him at 16/1.
Its rare these ante-post bets come off.

Whatever about writing out the docket wrong the most glaring error was backing odds on shots each way.
