Grabbed a couple of light showers here today with any heavier ones managing to either disintegrate to shredded nothings by they time they reached me or skirt lively off to either my east or west. Doubtlessly this wil happen again tomorrow and the next day as well. Bring it on hang%20loose.jpg

Bugger all here again - as usual :(

Could see mega showers in all directions, more or less, from time to time.

    Anyway......

What the heck are "sferics"

Detected lightning strikes via specialist radio equipment. Often shown as an X or an + on maps such as the one Su posted earlier.

:D I love your pessimistic optimism, if there's no glass at all it wont be able to fall off the table and smash into your foot! Or something like that.

Wild Bill and Docarch, I share your frustrations. Our area is overdue some action.

I just wrote a poem for us...

Sferics all around, with thunder distant sound, tomorrow will be found, the lightning on our ground.
    :)

I've only heard thunder on two days since last May so you're not alone, badly overdue something here

Some great convection again today, impressive clouds visibly building all around. Again there'll be nothing here but should be some fun in the south and east later

Brief, moderate, pea-size hail shower in Cork city.

Just saw plane doing strangest manoeuvre overhead, old school Aer Lingus!

Showers really beefing up now. Lots of red specs on the ME radar heading for the south east!

Should do a lot better today with wind from NW.

Lots of towers all round here now with 'showers in the vicinity'.

Nice hail shower just passed overhead. Lasted about 6 or 7 minutes.

Only one small rumble though and no lightening.

Some very nice mammatus clouds just passed over Cork!

Very large scale mammatus clouds passing over Cork now. Not as clear as the one earlier though

Feel like a storm chaser, was caught in amazing fork and sheet lightning coming out of Portlaoise around 13.45, ground completely covered in hail.I was driving and traffic had to crawl. Very memorable experience with the light show dancing all round me.

The Icelandic lightning map is hilarious at the moment. It's like there's a forcefield around South Dublin at the moment. Though there is a promising Cb which looks like it's heading my way.
The annoying thing is that I can't hear any distant rumbles because of the noise from the feckin UCD ball.

Just had a rumble of thunder here in Sallins as well. Worst of it looks to be heading to the south west of me. Another rumble as I type.

South Dublin storm sheild up....yet again. :o Have to keep looking up to Meath for some (hopeful) future action here.

A lightning strike now just to the south west of Sallins.

Thunder and lightning in Portlaoise about an hour ago. Seen 2 or 3 anvils driving back to Edenderry along with heavy hail. Hopefully some more action later.
