That cell over the English north midlands is showing up spectacularly on Infra Red and the raintoday radar. Localised areas of >50mm/h rate. Expect to see flooding in South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire on the news later

What's the updated thinking on activity in Ireland this afternoon??

Thundery downpour here for at least 20 mins, minus the thunder though.
This will have to produce something as it moves across the midlands.

No view from where I am, house in front of me and ill be damned if im walking into get a good view!! Didn't know we were getting this!

Headaches last few days and all thanks to this random weather. Ugh

Ugh I got a pain in the left side of my head last night while I looked out from upstairs, I saw a few flashes and it actually hurt my head. :pac:

But I never saw anything like it in a long time, I never saw actual flashes in Ireland and the rain was torrential to say the least.

Reports of a tornado near Loughborough , England.

Some spectacular looking storms over the UK all right, almost 5000 strikes in the past hour. Two more hook echos on the radar now over Leicester and Stoke with reports of a tornado in Leicester

A few intense storms forming over the midlands over here as well

Looking good as it travels across the midlands, something else heading for Cork/Kerry by the looks of sat24 loop.

Lovely and sunny and warm here in Blanch. Any chance of Dublin getting anything exciting today or, preferably tonight?

Hourly totals at Cork Apt between 7pm last night and 6am this morning.

    210736.PNG
    Data from met.ie c/o IWN

An impressive 3 hr total of 36.1mm between midnight and 3.00am. Respect!

I was sure you had seen something from this one.

You didn't miss much Redsteve, the main shower slid to my east giving only a few dribbles here but looks like you got a fair whacking alright looking at the radar sequence.

Was watching that develop on sat24.com! Looks impressive, perfect circle. 250mm/hr would be bloody crazy!!

And once again, South Dublin gets absolutely zero action.

i'm in d8 and it lashed rain during the night for several hours. i was awoken by it, and it went on until at least 8am.

those pictures of douglas are appalling. my heart goes out to those who have been flooded, it's an absolutely horrific thing to happen to one's house or business.

Does anyone know if there has been lightning in Letterkenny, Donegal in the last day?

  • Registered Users Posts: 221 ✭✭whats_my_name

Thunder storm in monaghan town, extremely heavy rain, lasted for about 3 mins. Sun shining again with the odd rumble of thunder, no lightning. Heading north.
