Will be nice if they drift our way..
Normally I don't mind a thunderstorm coming our way but atm I don't want the amount of rain it brings.

I'd take the rain if only I could have a thunderstorm! :)

All boring and quiet on the Thunderstorm watch I presume?

    Nothing happening in Cork..

    Bits of sunshine..bits of cloud..

Rained earlier today for about 30 mins...

Nothing since. Doesn't even look like anything is going to happen.

    Boring..:(

not related to Ireland I know, but if anyone is watching the Golf in America - the storm clouds gathering around the golf course at Kiawah Island in South Carolina look fantastic

Sky Sports or any decent internet stream to see the coverage :)

Some strikes over SW England and S Wales and look how it's intensifying on the radar - could get interesting later?

are we supposed to get thunderstorms? just heavy rain at the moment

  • Registered Users Posts: 517 ✭✭✭Atlantis50

Cork city has just had it's heaviest burst of rain since June 28th (the night of the thunderstorms that caused the floods) but this looks to be less prolonged based on the radar (http://www.met.ie/latest/rainfall_radar.asp) so I wouldn't expect any flooding.

Walking home from the pub near huntstown, in west dublin (dublin 15) within the last half hour when i saw three big flashes of lightening within 10 minutes, got a bit nervous and hailed a taxi!

There was no thunder accompanying the lightening nor any rain. Its very sticky/humid though!

My bedroom just lit up here in Carpeterstown Dublin 15, I assumed lightening too but as you mentioned heard no thunder?!! Theres a large meteor shower tonight...wonder has it anything to do with that?!

That is indeed a new strike.

Out here in Dublin 5, about 4 miles from the airport. Havent' seen a thing yet, their latest report indicates a thunderstorm.

Seems odd that I wouldn't see even one flash from here and my window looks directly at the approach plus in the general direction to 25/10 at Dublin
