Im currently looking around for a water pump for the sump of the marine tank.

It has to be a pump that flows at least 2800 litres per hour.

Anyone know where to get one at a good price??

    Thanks

They did and they have them in stock.

But no harm and having a look around and seeing what else is out there.:)

The marine tank is 300 litres and the sump below will have around 70-80 litres in it.

So looking for a pump that will flow enough for a combined 380 litres of water.

Yeah, I find a lot of their stuff very pricy. I try buy Irish when I can but some of the savings when shopping online are too hard to turn down.

    Any ideas then?

Had a look on Zooplus, but cheapest was an Eheim at around 120 euro.

Jim from Seahorse told us and showed us where to put the pump in the sump.It will be at the far end of the sump and then connected up to the middle pipe that goes up into the tank via the wier.

Great find, and at a steal of a price too.:)

Does zooplue.de ship to Irelnd though??

    66w power consumption though.EEK.

yep . All my dog and fish stuff come from zooplus.de

my Gf is German so she orders all the time

your better off ordering a few things as delivery is the same weather you order 1 thing or a few things . Use google chrome when on the site as it will translate the page for you .

    normally takes 5 days delivery.

if you set up an account with them they throw in free stuff too like fish food

    Thanks for that.:)

    Can I ask you this.....

Do I need that size of pump,as I only have a combined water amount of 370 litres?

Is a pump that flows 2800 litres per hour overkill for my tank/water volume?

Would a smaller size Eheim pump work?

    What do you think yourself?

The only thing thats bothering me is the power consumption (66w).

I appreciate your advice and help.:)

    personally speaking it overkill

why would you need to turn all the water over 7 times an hour.

you could do it 3 times for 23 euros

    http://www.zooplus.de/shop/aquaristik/aquarium_pumpen/eheim/pumpen/9515

but I have no experience in marine tanks only tropical

the feedback is 4 out of 5

seems that it would be 5/5 if the people didn't put it directly into the aquarium and the fish stuck to it :D

they are also saying its a very strong pump and there are mention of people with tanks from 300 to 500 liter tanks giving 5 stars

My girlfriend also rekons that 4 times turnover per hour is more than enough.

Think Ill go for the next size pump down after that Eheim pump you posted.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Just speaking with my girlfriend again, and she says that 4 times per hour is for filters.

But does that also equate to an actual water pump too?

And also for marine and the amount of water that has to be pumped per hour?

    Im confused dot com.:D

Thanks to my girlfriends dad and his keen eye,Im sorted now.

he sourced me a brand new low wattage pump.
The pump is marine safe indeed, after checking with Keelan and Darragh from Seahorse Aquariams.

Its only 30 watts and pumps/flows 2500 litres per hour and to a height of 2 meters.More than enough for my needs.

    Perfect for my new tank.

    Sorted.:)
