Going to Cross this weekend in hope more then expectation.

We could very well be on 0 points after 4 games.

    That'd be delightful.

7.05 is a daft KO time. I expect there to be a huge amount of people miss the first half due to not knowing as seems to be the Cork way.

Should be a good crowd regardless. If we defend like we did against Drogs, this will be a massacre.

I will be delighted if we got a point here. I will also be shocked if we do.

What is the actual reason for 7pm kick offs for TV games?

Because of the 9pm news or something?

It's stupid in a league that has nearly all its fixtures on the busiest weeknight of the week.

City are 4/1 at home vs Rovers on Friday.

Bar euro games against big clubs I've never seen us so big.

    Are Shamrock Rovers that good?

I would say its down to our defensive performance last week more than anything else.

Rovers haven't won in Cork in 10 years.

I've never seen Rovers win in Cork and I've only seen one goal (SOC in 2008). I've seen as many Rovers goals in Russia and more wins in the Champions League than I have in Cork.

I want to see Rovers win in Cork. If it's the last thing I do...

You'd have to think 0 points from opening 3 games. Which is unpleasant.

With Pats and Rovers to follow, 0 from 5 is a distinct possibility :(

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    ..................Clarke
    O Brien.....Kenna......Browne....Bermo

    Forrester..........................O Connor

Expect Keegan to have a decent game against us, handy player Mahon shouldnt have let him go.

Win and a cleansheet be nice, 3 dublin derbies in a row then.

Hard to see us getting anything from our game with Derry the way we've been defending so far this season.

I'm not looking forward to it. :(

I guess this is what it feels like to be a Drogheda fan. I'm not liking it. Fair play to you lot for sticking through it though

Glad Rovers are facing into the game with 6/6 points so far without completely clicking as it;s long time since we got anything at the cross. Tricky run of games now with this and then Shels and Bohs to come.

    You again!!

Nice try there, but bar the first half of last season I'd say its been quite a while since we've felt as gloomy as you lot are at the minute :D (talking strictly on the pitch. But of course theres nothing like a derby result to cure what ails ya, so I'm not gonna count my chickens quite yet!)

I'm hopeful that we're capable of stepping up another level. If that happens friday we may squeek out a draw.

Away to UCD, never the easiest place to go to. Huge defensive problems, I can't see Bray getting anything out of this. The long, hard slog will continue.

In saying that, bringing 1 or 2 extra lads, so hopefully they might catch the bug and go to a few more games.

We did surprisingly well away to Sligo last season, winning twice. We've a much more inexperienced team though this year and I'd say it's going to be tough. We've been playing well so far but made some simple mistakes. Still, going to be positive and predict we pick up a scored draw.

I definitely think we can get at Derry on Friday. I fancy us to win. And I never think we'll win :pac:

Darren Quigley free to face UCD after his sending off appeal has been rejected.

    Do you mean accepted?

I wonder how many red cards have been appealed in the last two weeks, there certainly has been enough given out.

    Sorry, yes I do.

From the pics it didn't look a red card so a wee bit of justice although doesn't help the scoreline now.

Didn't hear but was Jake Kellys red card rescinded? Refs having a bit of a mare so far.

I disagree. They seem to be getting a lot of decisions right.

Some players need their heads examined though.

Flying into challenges in the middle of the park?

Well I am basing it on Bray matches mainly, but one was fair enough, Jake Kelly was nothing, Quigley was rescinded and a blatant penalty was refused. In the course of 2 matches, its not that good.

I think we have had two fair referees so far but the problem is refs are not allowed to use any common sense and stick to the rules too rigidly. I actually can't remember Dundalk getting as many free kicks in a match as we did last Friday (and we still got destroyed :()

10 or 12 red cards in 12 matches is a bit mad.

Is this a problem with the referees or the assessors? I think it's the latter

Alan Kelly was great last week against Shels, let the play flow and wasn't giving frees for little or nothing. I wish more refs would follow suit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Ref got penalty and red card right at Cork-Monaghan Select XI, but got half of other decisions wrong, was awful at stopping play for everything, especially when a Brennan was involved.

If they don't stick to the rules, you don't get consistency.

    Mainly madness from the players.

Our stat for the week; last time Monaghan played a league game in Inchicore, Kevin Doyle made his league debut for the Saints (Nov 2001)

Remember thinking he was too slow :pac:

Hopefully a good night in the showgrounds tomorrow, hopefully a good turnout too, we will be without Keane and Quigley with suspensions and Raf might be fit however wouldn't be surprised if he started on bench. Pascal Millien still hasn't got his Visa. Hopefully no more injuries than that.

Many Shamrock Rovers fans making the way down to Cork?

We always send good crowds down, however, the 7.05 kick off really makes a difference getting down. Wont make it myself due to work. Last time I can remember winning in Cork was lifting the trophy...albeit the first division...in cobh.

    Slightly optimistic about tomorrow though.

Many Shamrock Rovers fans making the way down to Cork?

They will bring their usual crowd I'd say, maybe even more than usual.
Normally they bring the biggest away crowds to the Cross.
Looking forward to it, crap start time though, eats into the drinking time before the game. I expect a big crowd outside the gates at ko time.
