    Hi,

I’m relatively new to Wordpress and I am designing a site, but I want to have a frontpage, which looks completely different to the theme/posts page I installed.

So far I’ve done that by having a static page as the front page, but I also want to have MapPress Easy Google Maps run on the static page, but my understanding is that you can’t have plugins/widgets run on a static page???

Essentially I want to have a blank page where I can add pictures and text etc and run MapPress Easy Google Maps on that page. Hope that all makes sense!

    Completely untrue.

Depends on what theme you are using.

OP, since you have two contradictory opinions, you should set up the site (locally or on your hosting server) and try it.

If you have problems then come back here for help.

Sorry, I figured it out. Initially I followed a video on youtube for help with setting up a static page, but it suggested building a blank php page which was outside Wordpress altogether using Dreamweaver and that's why I couldn't get any plug-ins to work...i think :(

Anyway, I made a static page, but this time inside wordpress and stripped the page back by switching off some of the options in the theme I'm using (Easel). That was way easier and a lot less convoluted!

Sounds like a very unhelpful and inaccurate video. Got a link to it?

    Are you sorted now?
