PSX Shmups...

Have been giving the ol' PSX a bit of exercise recently, and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for some good shooters.

I have most of the DC shmups, and anything that was likely released on a PS2 compilation disk, like Taitos Legends, etc, so looking for titles that wouldn't be in common with those. Only have a handful of PS titles, like Gekioh, Strikers 1945 II, and Mobile Light Force (yeah!).

So, really looking for PSX shooters, that mightn't have been on any of the newer systems, but maybe that were also on the Saturn.

Also, while I'm here, can the RFU cable be hacked into a SCART connector? I have a couple of composite cables, and know on newer systems, SCART>composite, but with the older PSX, does a proper SCART cable look much better than the composite? Better off getting one on eBay than making/hacking if it is better?

Einhander, the raiden project, raiden dx, r type delta, g darius, dodonpachi and gradius gaiden should keep you busy! Just buy a ps1/2 scart cable. Cheap as chips.

It has been mentioned already but Einhander is one of the most remarkable game on the PlayStation, never mind one of the most remarkable Shumps.
And is all made even more remarkable when you realise that it was made by Square, a company who specialised in RPGs and haven't made a Shump since.
It looks amazing, plays great, is almost peerless in terms of presentation and, well, the only issue is you need an NTSC ps to play it, but it really is worth finding.
Rtypes is well worth finding, as well as the aforementioned Rtype Delta, it contains the most two games of the franchise.
