UK resident, want to deposit Euro cheque into Irish Euro account

Hi,

I live in the UK and a looking into opening a Irish Euro account into which I will deposit a Irish Euro Cheque for 20k+

I'm possibly looking to buy a holiday home or move to Ireland in the near future and wants the funds to be in an Irish Bank account so that they can be obtained easily and without fees. Also the funds would be used when I visit family in Ireland.

Any advice appreciated

Bring proof of ID, and proof of your uk address. Don't think you actually need to be an Irish resident at all, some banks may be awkward about it tho. Phone them up and check.

Thanks for the info srsly7 - is there anywhere to compare various bank accounts online to get idea of interest and charges? I'm in the UK, so can't just pop into a bank, will have to may a specific visit on next trip over...
