What does Maintenance Cover when you take it out yearly on your Alarm,

Ie if you need batteries, sensors, or basically any part are you charged , or is this covered in the inital yearily Charge

Also if you have 24 hour monitoring security and the monitoring company have to ring the Garda and they come out, does the homeowner have to pay for the Garda coming ???

Maintenance cover varies from company to company. So if your looking for maintenance cover shop around & ask the following questions.

How many callouts are covered ?
This should cover all routine call outs IMO, some companys limit it to 2 calls. Some even limit to one.
How much labour does this cover?. Again if its routine maintenance time should be covered. If the work is caused by by others then call out & labour won't be covered. IE your getting new windows, you want something moved. If someone damages something , generally that won't be covered either.
If there is a limit on time & calls whats the charges?
Generally companys will have a single charge for maintenance & monitoring. If the Guards are called there is no charge, however if they attend a number of false alarms they may withdraw response & ask for an engineers report before restoring response.
If your fire alarm is monitored & the fire brigade are sent you will be charged. You can agree with your monitoring station how fire alarms should be actioned.

It does depend on the contract you are signing up for, some contracts will just be for your routine testing of the system, some will have a set limit and some will cover all call outs.

The best advice is to make sure this is all explained to you and get it in writing.

In the first year most company's will give you a 12 Month warranty. Again this service that will cover all costs associated with batteries and components installed can be offered but in the long run you will end up paying for the system over and over again. Not worth it in my opinion.

No they don't but if a key holder does not attend then it will be classed as a false alarm. After a number of false alarms the service will be withdrawn.
Here is a link to the policy for monitored alarms for you to read over.

Only a fully comp contract would cover all parts and labour, these are more expensive but you wont have any surprises if anything goes wrong
