A neighbour of mine swears by the Car Clinic.. says they really know their stuff about Audis and BMWs. Never used them myself but plan too in the near future.

Anyone used these guys for any type of car??

Makes no financial sense to pay high prices for main dealer servicing unless it's to maintain the warranty on a new car. I'm assuming that's what the OP's thinking....

    Cheers fella's :)

And for the main dealer question, not a hope. over charging, robbing bastards to put it nicely.

And I've been ripped off in the past before by work not up to standard and being charged a fortune for the pleasure of it. Never again.

Andy's garage just before Kilmacow village, he is a massive fan of VW and Audi's both diesel and petrol and has a few show cars too that he is always working on. Charges €40 an hour for work.

Went to him once as the inlet pipe came off my TDi cooler and he put it up on the jacks and opened it up underneath and popped it back on and didnt charge me a cent. Fa**fit told me about it and were mad to do more work on my car but at a high cost no doubt. I would have no confidence in them as I know for sure after sending my car in for an oil filter and oil change they changed the filter and put the old black oil back in the car.

I checked it a few days later, new oil should resemble the golden syrup look for a good few months but the stuff in my engine was thick black oil. Seems they lure people in with special offers but its either tricky advertising or half a job done.

A mechanic told me some years ago about a Main Dealers , that used a back-street garage to service their cars .

Main Dealers paid this guy €45 p/hour and the Main Dealers charged their customer €65 p/hour .

That's a very common practice with dealers, saves them having to employ fully certified mechanics for a certain marque when there are certified mechanics working for Indies nearby..

Are you sure there wasnt a problem in your car that made the oil go black very quickly like sludge in the sump? how long did you own the car and did you have it serviced before then? or was it the first time you were servicing the car? I mean like did you buy the car second hand and that was the first service you had done?

I didnt even know fast fit did servicing but if it the old oil was put back in why didnt you go back? i cant understand people who complain but dont do anything about it,(presuming you didnt) they would have remembered you and you had a docket? and if you didnt go back then you were foolish not to, i would have demanded my money back and contacted Fast Fit Head Office. Always check work thats been done and if your not happy go straight back, then again if you dont know what your talking about then you wont have a leg to stand on.

You have to be careful on boards like this because some people have other motives for running down rival garages ie one might be working for the competition and be someone who likes to come onto boards.

I have been to advance quite alot and i have to say i will never go back after the cleaning up i have had to do, screws and bolts not been put back in place after work been done.

I have gone to main dealers and had keys slung back and me and money nearly grabbed out of my hands, I dont like changing garages often i like to stick to one place, ive been to Carew and Okeefe they are okay but im sticking with the Car Clinic for the time being

Iv had my Audi in a few garages in Waterford, but i found Eddie O Shea near Tramore to be the best. He is a BMW specialist but knows VW and Audi really well.
