I was at my doctors today for day 21 bloods and I asked to be put back on metformin to regulate my cycles again first off my own doctor who I asked to see wasnt the doctor I was assigned to. same as every time I go in. so it was a male doctor and he said that there is no proof that women with PCOS benefit from taking metformin that he will research it for me. I was also trying to solve a few other problems about my specialists and well none of that happened either (would have been sorted if I seen my own female doctor)
Im gettin fed up of been passed around so Im looking into other female doctors around the area that I can change too if this keeps going on.

    Hi there

My gp has nothing to do with my metformin infact she's had nothing to do with my pcos since I was diagnosed almost 8 years ago and was refered to an endocrinologist. He prescribed the metformin for me and I have solely dealt with him when I want to go on/off it. My gp doesn't ask about it and doesn't interfere. My endo prescribes me a 6month prescription and if that runs out before the next time I see him I ring for a repeat. I'd wait and speak to the person who initially prescribed (I assume your consultant) as its something that someone who knows your history and condition needs to be advising on...

Oh just to add every time I've wanted to go back on it after a break I've had to have standard endo/gynae blood tests done first.

If I could get to see my own GP Id be asking for help in this area but its so hard to get hold of her and it was the GP who prescribed the met. have been on and off it since 2005
