Why would someone choose a Budgie over a Canary when getting a bird?

    Heya,

I have 4 canaries at the moment & there very easy to keep! Even during breeding season there very easy.

With Budgies you can interact with them a bit more as they would be more intelligent.

Both are lovely to have. The canary's song is much nicer as well! :)

Hope any of this helps! :)

Thats why I was thinking people would always go for a canary more, plus budgies can give you a nasty bite. Its nearly impossible to have either with 3 cats in the house though

Guess it's down to personal preference, budgies are lively and ok an unsocialised bird can bite but budgies can be very gentle and sweet all depends on the birds early experience and owners.

I love canaries and owned a few but the friendliest birds I ever saw were my cousins budgies. You could open the cage put in your finger and they would hop on. We used take them out of the cage like that and stroke them/play with them and they would just stay on our fingers until we put them back. They were so sweet :D
