    HI All,

I have the maxi cosi axiss car seat for my 2 year old girl. (I also used it for my now 4.5 year old boy)
My daughter now weighs 2stone 7pound (approx 16kg) and is 3 foot in height.
THe weight recomdation for the axiss car seat is stated as ' Suitable from 9 months to approx. 4 years (18kg)'
Now I know I have 2 kg to go in the weight but her head is peeping out over the top of the seat. I have previously heard (by mothercare sales rep) that once the head is over the top then the child needs a new seat.
One issue is that most car seat with a harness say the upper weight to use the harness is 15-18kg.Another issue is At just 2 years old my daughter is nowhere near being mature enough for a car seat that uses just the seat belt.
What I did when my son was in the same position was that I bought the Britax Evolva car seat and I used the harness until he was nearly 3. I know his weight might have been slightly over the limit, but I really felt that it was more important to be fully restrained.

Would any of you know of a harness car seat that would be suitable for my little girl. ? ( Her brother is still using the britax so for a change she will be getting something new:D)

Im open to all suggestions, THanks,
    Lisha

What about one of these? It's a cosatto, similar to the one my minder has for my daughter (15months old). It changes to an ordinary booster for when they are older and has a removable insert for when they are smaller. From 9kg up to 36kg weight limit.

Would also recommend these I have the evolva 123 by britax. My lads were in it from 8 months as they too were bug. They are now nearly 7 and 5 the seats still fit them great.

Why dont you bring your daughter in her car seat to Mothercare (or somewhere else that specialises in this area) and have them look and see if the car seat is still suitable?

I also have the Axiss and at my daughters 2yr check she was 96cm tall but she still fits comfotably in the seat. I have also had her 4 yr old cousin in the seat comfortably.

    I wonder if I have a newer model/different design?

I aso have a seat similar to the one pictured above in my dads car in the UK for when we go visiting. Its a great seat and my little girl is very secure and comfortable in it.

Hi Crazy Cat Lady, Just out of interest do you know what your daughters weight was at 2 year check?
When my son was 2 and 2months I went to mothercare asked them was he too big and as his head was above the top of the seat they said yes he had to come out of it. ( She is taller and lighter than him at the same age) I was prettey pee'd off that a seat i paid nearly 200+quid for was now obsolete. Paperwork says until 4years which is pretty misleading IMHO as I dont know any 4 year old that weighs 18kg.

In saying that I loved the Axiss and would love it more if they fitted it for a bit longer. But as I used it for 2kids, how bad I suppose.:)

I bought my axiss in summer 08, AFAIK the model has not changed. BUt I m open to correction.

I suppose what I was really asking in the OP was did any one know of a harness car seat that can be used when the child weighs more than 18kg.
My kids weight determines that they should use just the belt with the seat a bit too young for me

Thanks grindalwald, I agree the britax evolve is a good seat, looks like thats what I ll be getting for her too

    Thanks Lola92, that great
    Thanks for all the replies,
    Lisha

can understand about your pee'd off ness due to price why not try the above a lot lot cheaper and up to 36kg and it converts into a booster seat for when they are big enough, you will never need to buy another car seat :D

Just found out you *can* adjust the shoulder height. Just not easy. Had to wedge a screwdriver into it.

Op, I have a couple of the axis car seats only bought last year. Have u adjusted the shoulder the rest? It's very easy to do. Just pull it out and push it up. It will give some extra room and make the seat slightly taller I think. Takes literally 2 seconds.

only had a very quick skim through thread so sorry if I'm repeating what anyone has said.
