Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

seems reasonable enough but wonder if i am missing something here that I should consider??

Test the network signal where you live, work and play with a free three pre pay sim

i am with 3 and work as a truck driver and have no problems with coverage in any country in europe, can tether my tablet pc to my 3 phone in irl and uk and surf the net free of charge, not a bad deal at all :)

They don't let new contracts tether. Also 3 are the worst network in Ireland for internet speeds (if you are lucky enough to get a signal at all).

    Shut up, such Bul;l****!!!

Seriously OP they are the best for mobile internet in Ireland, by that I mean a balanced combination of speed price and value for money! Cant be touched really!

You could have tethered pre 01/01/2012 you cant now thats true, I hope they change that.

There was a speed survey linked here recently, and 3 were 19/20. With some company noone has ever heard of in 20th place. Sorry I don't have the link to hand... Tried googling it but no joy!

So yeah, they are the slowest.

Netindex is the survey ( the Speedtest data) .

    3 are 19th out of 20

"Mobile broadband" seems to get lumped in with landlines yes, which I agree is silly. Vodafone aren't listed at all on that survey (they do mobile and landline)? You can see o2 and meteor higher than 3 tho. Vodafone definitely faster too.

    Also missing emobile and tesco.

But that is government policy and Comreg policy. Mobile Broadband should never be lumped in with proper broadband...but Eamon Ryan was desperate for good news.

You must be one of the lucky ones getting decent speed so...

Although I've left them to go to meteor for price reasons I always had good coverage and speed with their network (recently seen 8mbps). And I found their customer care good too. As always best to test the network yourself with a free pre pay sim as other people's experiences may be significantly different from your own.

Exactly, this applies to every 3g network not only 3.

Three have 420k active customers sharing only 720 masts so that is around 600 customers per active mast ( masts are generally sectored into 3 x 120 degree aerials so make that 200 live customers per live sector).

Unsurprisingly some are hideously congested. Some are near empty.

Same with all the other operators by and large.

Yes, on 3 in Dungloe in Donegal, and I saw speeds of 6 Mbits......
