Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Staying Alive - The Bee Gees

I was upside down trapped in a car (hit by truck on a bend), thought I had broken every bone in my body and that song was belting out top volume on the car radio.

Even now I can hear it and remember that feeling...

Christy Moore - Nancy Spain. Reminds me of a woman from the past.

Kilkelly, Ireland - My Godfather burst into this when asked to sing at my 21st. Ground an epic party to a halt!

First they came for the socialists...

Reminds of a family death, after a long illness its true

    Now the drugs don't work
    They just make you worse

For a while after the death I use to hate when I would inadvertently hear that song, the memories would come flooding back.

The verbe one of the better Brit pop groups.

Indie songs. Some of the biggest berks I knew were from my shortlived experience of that scene. Some great music, back when indie meant indie but its so insufferably dominated by preppies n chindies with 'good taste' ah, the paiiiin...

Tears in Heaven, played too often at funerals.

I can't imagine the pain a parent must experience when losing a child.

Lost my brother to suicide christmas 92, I chose Dire Straights Brothers In Arms as his funeral song, haven't listened to it since and even the thought of the lyrics brings me to tears.

oh and Puff Daddy, Missing You hit the radio the day my dad died in 97, thats a tough one to listen to now too.

Kate Bush - This Woman's Work.

After a family member died in a car accident, for a few months afterwards I couldn't listen to any songs that in any way referenced death or cars, even very passing mentions. Bell X1's 'Trailing Skirts of God' is still a tough one to listen to even though I can't really place my finger on what about the song reminds me of this death - I guess just the general religious references in the song always remind me of the funeral, for some reason.

On a less serious note, my ex-boyfriend is in a band and I can't really listen to their music now - obviously his voice brings back unhappy memories of him and how he hurt me, and I also find myself wondering who are the girl(s) he's singing about now.

I spent along time making that cake, and someone left it out in the rain! I can't imagine I'll be able to retrieve the recipe either!

    Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley Version

Although my dad died suddenly he was sick on and for years and had told me he wanted this and Here Comes the Sun played at his funeral.

This is one of my favourite songs and at the time I was raging that he'd ruined it for me, but now I know that it's because of me that he liked it so much, which is actually lovely.

I can just about listen to it but f*ck it hurts.
