Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    That's more like it.

Beattie led the way and never droppped the intensity. His shirt to lose now.

No I wasn't there but Im not the one stirring ****. You are basing your comments on "I think I know who was there" which is beyond silly especially seeing as its City fans. Every report says it was local scuts who attacked City fans having a drink yet you see fit to bash City fans, well done Gimmick, I'm sure theres a job for you at the sun or the star.

Funny that the video of about 20 Derry scuts battering a City fan on his own just before this was deleted from Facebook. Very convenient.

Cork fans were attacked and were forced to defend themselves. As you say a previous video was deleted showing the attack.

Top of the league now as well. Granted we've only played four games, and the top five teams are all on nine points, but still!

And Dundalks former player Maguire scores in both games.

Great result last night. Proud that the presidents cup wasn't a fluke. By all accounts we roughed them up pretty good which really threw them off their game.

Just a shame now as the shams game is off next week. Momentum etc. But Bolgers 2nd suspension would be for it so it's probably for the best.

All comes down to St pats- Dundalk. Going to be a very interesting game, draw I hope. Sligo next week will be tight but if we defend well should win

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

If we want to win this league, games v a terrible side like Sligo shouldn't be tight. These games should be straight forward wins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭Paz-CCFC

At home maybe, but Sligo is still a tough place to go. Dundalk scraped a one-goal win there last season and they drew at home. That was obviously a much better Dundalk side than this year and probably a worse Sligo team. I do agree that we should be winning - wins against Sligo and Wexford would give us a nice little winning streak. I'd imagine that the Rover match will be played the Monday after Wexford, so we'd have a lot of confidence going into that. But a 1-0 up in Sligo would certainly be alright to keep the run going.

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭hman231

Sligo are in no great shapes but still I would be hoping for maximum points. Especially after no game for two weeks. It will be a really important game as the week after we have Wexford at home which would be a great chance to pick up points again. For me though I really want the team going into very strong form as Europe isn't too far away and we really need to get past the first round this time and with the current team I am confident in us being able to do that. Fair play also to Johnny C for changing up tactics and bringing in loads of good new players, hes doing his bit

Next 4 games are as follows (assuming the Rovers game wont be rearranged inbetween then):

    Sligo (A) - 2nd April
    Wexford (H) - 8th April
    Galway (A) - 15th April
    Finn Harps (H) 22nd April

These are the 4 games before we play St.Pats on the 29th of April. I think we should be looking at 4 from 4 there to setup a huge game, and crowd, for the game against Pats. The only one I would be worried about is Galway away, they have started the season in great form.

Pats 0-4 Dundalk. Makes our win last week even more vital now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

ROI v Belarus May 31st at the Cross. Wonder will there be tickets on sale at the Harps game to city fans or will it just be a general sale free for all.

That will be our first ever match with Belarus.

Great news for Cork to have this international here, hopefully CCFC can win now Friday, think this Sligo game could be a tricky on

Considering that Sligo were just hammered by Bray 4-0, it really shouldn't be. However, this is City we're talking about! (:pac:...:()

Yeah It'll be a 0-1 to us probably, we always beat them narrowly. Is the EA sports cup game confirmed yet ?

No. We never played Belarus before.

Or maybe you meant it's the first ROI international in Cork since 1985.

Impossible for us to win this on Friday given it isn't being played until Saturday.

No option really, all rearranged games tends to be Monday.

Correct no free Friday until we get knocked out of the cup also we could endup playing an extra mid week game in June because of European participation

More points dropped on the road to teams that we should be beating, our away form/tactics are simply not going to win us any title!!

Away form is terrible. I would prefer to lose away 3-2 and have a go then nil all. Marky and maguire could be unreal up front instead of playing 8 behind the ball

First half was simply embarrassing. Second was better but your not going to win the league by only bothering to play one half of games.

I kinda feel sorry for Wexford. A win would have been massive to them.

Disappointing but got a point at the end at least. Galway away next week looks to be a tough one but if we stay tight at the back we should get a result, everyone dropping points we need to capitalize

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭CHealy

Caulfield hasn't a clue what he's doing, Beattie on the bench over Buckley, if I didnt know any better Id say he's having a laugh at all of us. Embarrassing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,288 ✭✭✭✭rob316

I was walking out the ground last Friday night and all you could hear was "Why didn't Beattie start"? He got in behind so much when he came on, made a huge difference. When is Kavanagh back? He is such a great attacking outlet on the right. Watching Sheppard play right back Friday was depressing, just runs, no composure, no end product.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Think Kavanagh is only due back June or July.

The fact you reckon Shepard was playing right full speaks volumes of the shíte we had to endure Friday. I thought Beattie was playing right full while my buddy next to me thought it was Turner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭SteelyDanJalapeno

Shep was Left Mid, Beattie Right back when he came on, Turner right mid when he came on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,288 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Sheppard spent the first half running down the right contributing absolutely nothing, that's all I know. The whole thing was a cluster **** anyway no one knew what they were supposed to be doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,681 ✭✭✭Cape Clear

Irrespective of the way we set up we had enough decent chances to win this. What I found most worrying was how blunt we were in front of goal. We looked like a team in preseason lacking sharpness. Wexford wasted a hell of a lot of time especially in the second half with their play acting but that's no excuse just part of the game when a team goes one up.

While I do agree, any other night without the post cross bar and 2 great saves, it could have been 5-1

One of those great saves really shouldn't have been a great save. Maguire missing that header was criminal, (or at least it certainly looked it).

He also missed that 1 on 1 in the 90th minute, either side of the keeper it was in.
